It's wrong to lock up animals for human pleasure (and make money off it)

They're great; they take good care of and treat animals

When I was a kid I hate zoos because it smelled like feces.

Now, I love them. I feel like you can learn a lot. And anyone that thinks zoos are bad better not be eating hamburgers or cheap eggs that come from a caged chickens.

They take good care of the animals so that's all that counts. If those animals were in the wild they'd probably be dead by now. Sad truth.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

But eating is something we do for survival. Zoos involve caging animals for entertainment. (I'm playing devil's advocate; I have mixed feelings about zoos personally.)

Most meat comes from domesticated animal that is grown by people and then slaughtered by people. Things like eggs come from chickens caged in the smallest of spaces. If you go out into the wilderness and eat to survive then I'd consider eating meat a survival mechanism, but so is eating fruits, veggies, nuts, etc. But if you go to the supermarket to eat packaged meat its consumerism. I mean, most milk is crated by jacking cows up with so many hormones they have to be milked or they're in physical pain. A lot of that stuff is more cruel than observing animals at a zoo. But that stuff is more a part of everyone's life than a zoo...

Not necessarily. If they are protecting injured animals that were going to die in the wild, it's one thing. If they are just capturing animals from the wild though, then I can't really support that.

Eating meat, eggs and all of that is a whole new ball of wax. That IS done for survival. Which btw, it should be done in a certain way. The way we treat animals in general, in my eyes, is pretty disgraceful. And NO, I am in no way, shape or form an animal rights activist. I think there is a line that you can't cross though, and we cross it a lot.

Back to zoos though. Most of those animals would die in an instant. Some of them are rehabillitated after an injury and re released in the wild. For the most part though, they would have no chance. Especially the ones that were bred in captivity.

Zoos have their ups and downs though. It's very hard to educate people on animals when you are looking at them in a cage. I suppose it's not any better or worse than how we keep our own pets locked up. And people who have tiny enclosures for their pets, or hardly walk their dogs, ect.. have no right whatsoever to criticize zoos.

According to the innate biological accords which govern our daily, individual enterprise, it is normal to observe, take delight in, and study those creatures below our evolutionary thresholds. Zoos provide a righteous approach to these intrinsic interests and wonderings-- the animals are well kept, their wild survival promoted, and the public is exposed to a world long forgotten, at the very least

You know, I just want to start a community where we have cows, chickens, fruits, and vegetable growing and everyone shares it and stays healthy. This would be ideal.

No, it's not communism. Communism is garbage for libtards. What I am talking about is a community of like-minded individuals growing vegetables and raising cows together.

As a photographer zoos are often my destination of choice. Trust me I've been to some zoos where the animals are just begging you to shoot them.

I'm like Bonn, I have mixed feelings. I love being able to see animals you wouldn't necessarily ever see. I love that some animals are saved from death, but I really do feel sorry for many of them
I just hope that people will like me

I'm with you on this. I'm pretty up and down on zoos and aquariums too. Same with people who own animals as pets, as I mentioned earlier.

However, I would LOVE to see some of these animals, in person, in their natural habitats someday.
