Wow, you feel really strongly about this! It's not like he's Jerome James!

No but in 3 years Kidd will be like 40. There is no way I want to see Kidd here at age 39 or 40. Plus I am for getting young players to run the team. I doubt if Kidd is on the team Mike D would have the heart to tell him to come off the bench to play a young point guard. Not only that We still have not gotten rid of Curry and Jeffries contract for 2010. So signing Kidd at 6 mil would be a bad idea if the Knicks are planning on signing two max players.

I'd prefer Kidd at $6 mil per to Lee at $7 mil per. Jason Kidd is not the same player, for certain, but he would clearly be the best player on this team and would be a GREAT 2010 recruiting tool. They all loved playing with him at the Olympics. But if the team is going to resign Lee I can see no way to bring Kidd into the fold.

And if the Knicks suck we aren't going to benefit from it... so I wouldn't mind seeing the last legs of a Hall of Famer's career. The team still may (and probably) will suck with Kidd but there will at least be a reason to watch other than to see how four mediocre prospects progress.

I think he's still good enough either to help with rebuilding by a) inflating our players' stats and trade value or b) being a very valuable trade chip at a low salary like $2 mil per (which could then help us get young players and/or dump Jeffries' contract).

oh, you meant at $2M per? Then hell yeah. But no way Kidd does that. He just turned down a $24M 3-year deal from the Mavs.

If you have him for 2 mil then I would not object to that. I am just not in favor of signing him for 6 mil for 3 years. If things do not work out we would be stuck with him for 2 more years with him getting older. I have watched him several times last year and teams were not even guarding him. Instead of Kidd being an asset to the Mavs it was more like he was a liability because of his lack of having a jumpshot.

1 year deal only for Kidd... then decide our options in 2010... can't have cap tied up in this guy when we're targetting a max FA that year... if there's cap left over after signing a max guy i wouldn't mind signing him up to another year extension, but would have to see how Kidd plays for us in '09/'10 first.

He did? Wow, I had no idea he turned down that much money. I don't think he's worth $8 mil a year!

Kidd would help attract LBJ
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I would prefer to see Steve Nash here, but I guess I would be okay with Kidd as long as he came over for the right price and Nash is not an option

I really doubt that. Kidd is not going to make or break Lebron's chances of leaving or staying in Cleveland. Kidd is washed up. If Lebron wanted Kidd he would demand that the Cavs sign Kidd. It's not like Kidd is at his peak right now. Kidd does not have that type of pull anymore. Especially the way he played in Dallas. What will make Lebron want to come here is if the Knicks can sign Bosh or Amare to play with him. Not Kidd at age 37.
