For $4 million the Knicks are willing to take the risk of having Marbury on the team. Its pretty obvious that the team doesn't want him there. Its a senseless risk on Dolan's and Walsh's part. Pay him and move on. I could careless if he is gone and averages 20-8 for some other team. If Walsh is worried about that then he is in the wrong profession. Pay him his 21 million and the Knicks will be better.

I believe we would save on luxury tax as well. So if we buy out Marbury for $4 million less, then we save $8 million. That is a sizeable amount of money so I'm for waiting.

To further complicate things the knick's have to also worry about Malik and Jerome's contracts, so it's not just the money they owe Steph, but the other two as well. None of these 3 fit into the future plans and so they have to find the most economical way to deal with them all. For Malik a buyout is likely to happen soon. For Jerome he's still not made his decision to retire, but if and when he does the Knicks will move to get that taken care of my insurance and file with the league for relief.
Steph tho is a big problem, cuz they really wanted to get him to do the buyout for about $16.5 mil and that would be a big savings for the club, but he's not willing to do that, so they're stuck.
I was really hoping for a clean break this yr. It would make things so much more enjoyable for everyone. This is already starting to turn into a circus.

and for jerome to retire for insurance to pay, he has to "medically" retire. so a doctor has to say he can no longer play b/c of a health issue. being a tub of churned butter isn't a health issue imho.
