Are they really the best team, Or the team with the best talent. Even in the NBA FINALS the best team beats the team with the best talent.

I honestly your team is very good, but it lacks more big men. Once Howard gets in foul trouble, you will have problems against good teams.

I hope we see a cool game between USA & Spain by the way ;). We havent played that good lately, thought the results were ok.

I think the US sold out by cutting some shooters and adding Dwayne Wade instead of another big man or shooter. I guess it's better for the hype machine to add Wade instead of Miller. That team that was together last summer should have stayed together. They will go into games with some natural weaknesses(height) and I'm not sure you can do that anymore. I put 70%, but the more I talk the more I think 60%

It's amazing to me bip that the Coaches committee that puts the team together hasn't figured out what our opponents will do against us when the games truly count.

They FIBA teams has chosen to pack the middle and are daring the USA to beat them from the outside.

How can we represent the USA competively without lights out (SHOOTERS) on the roster boggles my mind.

I feel the NBA(stern) wants the rest of the world to catch up and gain confidence.

And the way they call fouls on USA bigmenin the world games can really be a problem.

It's the sole reason why Tim (big fundamental) Duncan chooses not to play against international competition and represent america anymore.

after every disappointment with our Dream Team's we always here that the team didn't have enought role players, and then what do they do next time? they fail to include role players. I will be rooting against team USA, simply b/c I can't support the repeated stupidity and arrogance of loading the team with as many superstars as it can

The us still tries to be to fancy and doesn't understand how to break a zone. The defense seems to suffer way to many lapses. If we settle on taking jump-shots like we did against Australia and then let that effect our D--then we can easily lose. IMHO EVERYTHING is predicated on defense. If we can get into their men full court and cause some TOs and bad shots which create break opportunities and keep up the intensity for the full game we can win it. This is really like the NCAA's--and any team is susceptible to losing. Intensity focus and fundamental execution are the keys. If we start this alley ooping behind the back 40 foot jump shot stuff and let it go on the D to many times--one team will get us.

I just think when the games count that this team won't be holding anything back. I fully expect them to put the pedal to the metal and just blitz teams. I think they don't want to be in a Bronze or Silver situation again.

I dont think its about "role layers", but "intelligent" and "complete" players. In the NBA there is a kind of big distinction between "offensive" players and "defensive" players, which is not that big in Europe, and that hurts the USA in FIBA basketball against the most competitive teams. If Kobe, Wade, Anthony, Lebron, Bosh and Redd put some effort on Dn(I know some of them are good defenders when they "try"), then you should have no problem, except for the big man thing I said before.

I also hate the way fouls are called agains big men in FIBA basketball. In fact thats one of the reasons I prefer the NBA over FIBA basketball, but it is incomprehensible that knowing it from many years, they have not brought another big man to the team. the idea of Carmelo Anothony or Bosh defending some of the very skilled big men that he will face at the Olympics is pretty bad to me.

Yeah I don't get it. In the NBA if you have a big man or a penetrator that forces teams to collapse what do GM's do? They surround him with dead eye shooters so that teams cannot collapse. For some reason we don't follow the same logic with our National Teams. Well, I know the reason is to continue the hype. That team from last summer had defensive teams shaking their heads. Michael Redd and Mike Miller were stars because they were left open constantly. And they destroyed other teams. We used the same drive and kick mentality that the European teams were killing us with. Now we are back to the same old thing and hoping that our athleticism will carry us through.

The original dream team had 3 incredible big men, several penetrator, several distributors, 2 of the best shooters in NBA history, defenders, bruisers etc. Why have we gone away from this balance? Oh I forgot again, gotta sell US team jerseys.

The one advantage I see this team having over other teams is that they have been together longer than our other teams. This will be a definite advantage and the reason why I think they will be the favorite even though it will be tough.

First of all, why call it "The Road to Redemption"? If we win this Olympics, you didn't redeem anything. We still lost last Olympics.

And then what if lose? Then we look like double-ass-holes.

I have only watched half of the Australia game, and we still look vulnerable, though I think we will win.

The U.S. should send the NBA championship team to the Olympics, and if that team has foreign players, they should replace those players with eligible players that fit the team concept. Instant gold.

Yeah, that's a big part of the problem. They need better accommodations than that.

And some people say you don't need talent to be a synchronized swimmer!

Can either of those girls play PG? Maybe we can trade Marbury for one, or both, or them? Just got to make sure that Curry doesn't get too hungry during a game.
