If its 1 or 2, I think you definitely make the pick.

Anything lower, you consider trading it for Melo.

That's tough. Melo is who he is and he is....I voted for the pick cuz I would rather steer clear of a bone head like him.......but.......he is an established talent and he fills a definate need.

The main questions concerning lee, Zach and Marbs still exist.....except if melo was here he would be yet anothr dude that needs touches in the post.

Melo? No way.

The pick all the way. If I'm trading the pick, I better be getting cap space back.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

It's a no brainer--if I dont get pick 1-2 I would do Melo for pick and Marbury--just have to do a little DD to make sure Melo's couple of actions of late DUI etc... is not a pattern that will continue. In terms of what you get--the odds of getting a player better than melo from either the draft or FA is slim at best.

i'm somewhat surprised by alot of the negative reaction this got.

i personally would make the deal.

here is my reasoning...i think melo has some issues, but nothing crazy as in he's a bad locker room presence or a chemistry buster (ala zach). karl is also a jackass so i can see alot of players butting heads with him.

stars win in this league and melo is a star player. the guy can average 30ppg under d'antoni. we still can shed salary in the interim. and he's still a young player. he's a draw, especially in ny market.

then in 2010, you have melo (who can be a very good robin), d'antoni and all you need now is a batman.

superstar talent wins out...and i don't see any superstars in this draft (or someone that will be better than melo) and we won't be in the hunt for one next draft.

but if he has more character issues than i'm aware of...then the answer would be no. but with walsh/d'antoni around, i think it could work. amare had alot of character questions marks before he was drafted also.

I do like Brigg's idea of sending Marbury to play for George Karl.

I don't think of Melo as a supestar - just cause he was promoted as one doesn't mean he is one. I think Rose (or Beasley) could be just as good as him in a bit and they would be much cheaper in the 2010-11 season.

If we get #1, no, I think we keep the pick. But if we get #2, I think Melo is better than everyone in the draft except possibly Beasley. The question is if Melo will cause any issues for this team. If you feel he will behave, then I say yes. Furthermore, I think he would fit our coach extremely well.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Melo sucks. There are so many more players that can average 30 ppg with D'Amtoni. Thing is tho we prolly can't get any of those guys. Isn't this the definition of starphucking?

Melo is the next T-Mac is a more fair comparison... Marbury's in a class all his own.

i think in the nba, you need to get batman before you get robin.

best case scenario: we draft a few robins in the draft in 2008 and 2009 and sign a batman in 2010. actually, best case scenario is we draft batman in a month.

i think its impossible to discuss trades before we know if we're getting beasley or rose or a lesser talent in the draft.

Oh yeah; he's overrated too.
