i have to say Kidd... he's 1 of the top 3 or 4 PG's of alltime if u ask me... not so for Ewing, even as great as he was.

Kidd definitely belongs in that list. I picked Ewing, though, because I believe great centers have more impact than great guards.

also remember the competition that Ewing faced on a regular basis vs the competition Kidd faced.

Jordan, Miller, Stockton and Malone, Hakeem, everywhere he looked Ewing had to face another hall of famer. ewing played the game in his prime when the league was infinitely more competative. it may never be that competative ever again.

Let not forget Bird, Magic,Barkley, Isiah and Detroit, Very good Cleveland teams featuring Mark Price, Ron Harper and Larry Nance...The game was just played at a different tenor...

There is really no wrong answer to this question. Both players are superstars and first ballot hall of famers. Both can carry a team on both ends of the floor and both are leaders and both are lethal. Both have a couple of not too glaring shortcomings. Both are workhorses.

I guess the answer to your question is this then. It depends on what kind of team you want to build. If the ECC Nets from a few years ago had a big precense down low, besides Kenyon, then they very well could have been championship material. Not Kidd's fault.

If Ewing and and the '94 ECC Knicks had Houston or Sprewell or another reliable perimeter scorer who was a lot more consistent than Starks (Whom I loved) then they surely would have won the championship that year.

There's no wrong way to build a championship team. Kidd and Ewing are both equally great centerpieces and I'd love to have them both in their primes, on this team.

of course if i wanted to build a team i'd take the bigman... the question is not who would u rather build around, but which of the players did we consider to be better... it's not like i'm saying Kidd by a landslide here... u can't go wrong w/either player, but i feel that Kidd has been at the top of his position for most of his career, while Ewing was never considered the best C in the game during his career... the argument about Ewing having to play against much better competition is very well noted, i admit, but it's not like Kidd has had to play against chopped liver either, unless u guys happen to think Kobe, Payton, Iverson, Wade, Nash, etc. are chopped liver.

I voted for Patrick because the Knick were contenders most years because of his presence. Can the same be said of Kidd.

I have to say Patrick for the same reasons Sage does. Ewing's teams were always good. Kidd is one of the greatest PG's of all time, but...........
