It would be the WTF moment of the year.

To do this they will need to play much better that those last 5 games.
So this will be really a surprise for me if they win and will signal some positive changes in team mentality.
One positive thing I can see already - they know that they suck and stopped being delusional.
This is big thing already.
Why they needed 26 loses for this is mindboggling.

It would mean we were 14-27 and still in the cellar with no chance at the playoffs.

That's Factorial.

Marbury himself: Winning 8 of 10 or 12 of 15 is 'turning the corner'.

FactorialBury will put you all to shame if you declare our franchise turned around because of this recent streak.

Larry accidentally won 6 in a row - where'd that get us? Yah.... We went 25-25 over a 50 game stretch last season which included a 4 wins in 5 games stretch - where'd that get us? Yah, Isiah extended for life for a job well done winning 33 games.

Awesome!

So what's your point? At the start of this year this wasn't going to be a title team. We wanted to see it make the playoffs. None of us felt the team was built right, so there was going to have to be more changes down the line anyway. We didn't add any of the things we all targeted as major needs for the team. Zach tho should've made the team better, so predictions were made based not on the team being headed in the right direction as to a title, but due to what adding Zach might do this year. Isiah blew it and the team lost far too many games than it should.

Now we see the team winning some games and really this isn't that surprising, since we all know that there is some talent here and that wins like this should be possible. The point is that we still have to continue to build this team and we're not gonna trade every single player on this team and start from scratch. We need to get this team playing well again and see who should stay and what we need to add to improve. We still have our pick and to make the best use of it, we need to have some idea of what we have and how to use who we have.

Get within 5 games of .500 and then I will get into it again until then Knicks can't fool me with their recent play, fools gold thats all it is right now. Go out and win 11 of 13. Beat Boston and Philly back to back and maybe then I might consider their play something of a positive. Until then Knicks basketball is dead to me.

Nix: My point is not to get all giddy over one stretch of wins. They've done it before and gone right back in the tank. So to me, until they do what Stephon Marbury himself said should be considered a turn around, I'm looking at what it is.

A few wins in very opportunistic situations. In case you forgot those situations, here they are:

****

We beat:

Detroit, in their 4th road game in 5 nights, on a back to back which they had just played an OT game and got into NY in the wee hours.

Washington, in their 4th game in 5 nights, on a back to back which they had just beaten the Celtics and got into NY in the wee hours.

New Jersey for whatever reason we own them this year.

Got blown out by Washington.

Barely snuck past an ailing Heat team in the final minutes of the game.

*****

So, no, this is not some miraculous turn around that would command a fan base of a whole to "believe" again.

Steph himself said the quote I listed above during last year's .500 stint and asked if the club has turned it around and he seemed both angry and mystified at such a stupid question and said NO, 8 of 10 or 12 of 15 is turning the corner.

He's correct.

No reason to get all riled up over a couple of shoddy wins.

I think if the Knicks beat Boston, Boston might finally begin to understand what "Formidable" means.

Several players (Caron Butler/Chauncey Billups) recently have gone on record to say that the NY Knicks shoud beinthe top 15 teams of the NBA with their talent base. There is no doubt that we don't have a 'single' superstar or all -star - so there will be more time needed for players to mesh. although - one can say that Zach Randolph is only one player- the fact is that Crawford, Nate,Jeffries all needed time to adjust to their roles and then add in Randolph wh basically changes the primary tactic of dumping it into Curry- thats a lot of change. Any team would take 20-30 games to figure it out- and get used to new rotations, responsibilities and learning how to play together.

Look at Portland - they finaly broke through this year - and the key was a stabilizing outside shooter (James Jones), some backcourt depth (Blake/Rodriguez) and the continued development of Aldridge, Roy and Outlaw.

It'look' like all of a sudden they are better- but in actuality it took them atleast 2 years of playing together in terms of the core- Jack,Pryzbilla,Blake,Webster etc and a little luck in getting both Aldridge and Roy. They had 8 first wound draft picks not even counting Odom- of which 3 were top 7 picks - which have all panned out - in terms of Webster, Aldridge and Roy. They averaged 28 wins a season till this year- so if the Knicks (fans) wish to endure 3-4 seasons like that and hope for luck that their first round picks pan out - then they may wish to go for this pproach but remember Atlanta and minnesota -who havn't had as much luck. Or chicago who went like 6 seasons in a row to accumulate all those draft piks and aren't doing all that well this year either.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Knicks beat Boston. In fact I'm predicting it to be a close game to the end. It wouldn't change anything for me, to me it's still unlikely Isiah learns to become a good GM anytime soon or ever. Also, the team has had good stretches before. It usually means nothing in the long run.

depends what you mean by believing in this team again... if that means will we think this team can actually make the playoffs this year, then forget it... the season's already over... if by that you mean they're playing for next season & trying to increase their confidence in each other by winning games, then i would say beating BOS might help to achieve that, but they have to remain consistent for the rest of the season & can't fall back into the routine of getting blown out by lesser teams because of letdowns & lack of focus... i'll believe that when i see it, but last night's win vs the Heat is an encouraging sign from that standpoint.

How is that different than what would have happened? Knicks, by conventional wisdom, already are predicted to lose by 20.

Not playoffs necessarily... but believing this team is capable of taking steps forward without having to take more steps back (tanking etc)

i would have no problem seeing this team playing well down the stretch even if it means giving up a chance to get a top lottery pick as long as Isiah commits to playing the young guys in doing so & letting them improve & grow together... i don't wanna see the same ol' retarded rotations while eeking a few wins we might not have normally had while guys like Morris & Chandler waste away on the bench all season.

If they will beat Boston it would be a NY moment in the yr 1994, when Ewing starks and the gang played.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Not according to some. Now that we've won 4 of 5 (who cares in what state the opponents were!) - Isiah is the genius they always told us he was, and they were merely very busy with their lives while we were getting our heads kicked in since the last "we've won 3 of 4 we turned the corner!!" episode in Knick land.

So....
Do we get more that 6 wins in January?
At least 7. This will be some progress already...
