Lets face it. There are no lovers and haters anymore. We all love the team and we all hate Dolan, Mills, Isiah, and certain players in various degrees. But there is still a tangible rift among Knick fans. Some love the team so much they want them to lose every game purposefully in order to increase the odds to a possible maximum 25% of getting the first pick in the draft. Other fans love the team so much that they want the team to Win as much as possible if not to genuinely win a title anytime soon, but to build back a winning culture and restore our player's trade value's and our league-wide reputation. So which type of fan are you? Are you a tanker or a gamer?

I consider myself 'an honest Knick fan' who refuses to lie to himself.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I thought I just put a post up with this question. The tankers overwhelmed all others.

Actually, I'm not even thinking of the season like that. I'm just excepting the season, this team for what it is, until Isiah gets fired. Which at this point would seem like close to impossible. Just have to wait.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I consider this a different team minus Curry and Marbury. I really do.

And it makes sense that the other 10 guys are much happier without having to play with them.
Eddy Curry picked up two fouls in the first 2:05 and did not return in the half. The Knicks proceeded to play one of their best halves of the season without Marbury and Curry, building a 63-50 lead.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I guess between the two options I would be a gamer, but that's not to mean that I WANT the knicks to win games and make the playoffs this season, if anything that would just set us back in the long run, I just don't root for loses or get mad when the knicks win because I know that ultimately they won't win very much on their own anyway.

I want Lee, Balk, Morris, Mardy, Nate, Malik, Chan, Q, even Craf to win
I want Eddy, Zack, Steph, Jeffies, Snack, Craf and especially IT and Dolan to lose and get the hell out of NYK.
I don't believe in lottery with Isiah around so I guess I am "Gamer". I want to see Isiah losing all games or wins which will prove him wrong.

The thing is that no amount of losses will make Dolan go away. He doesn't want to rebuild the traditional way and it's never gonna happen as long as he's here. Now if we can stop dreaming as if there' some chance that this will happen, we can get back to reality and understand that this team needs to win games and make the most of what it has. I say this cuz we're probably not gonna lose enough to get a top pick. At least not on purpose anyway. Dolan and Isiah won't let that happen.

The fact is that if the fans at MSG understood Dolan they wouldn't boo. That only makes him want to look for immediate change in order to try to win games. The man only wants a packed stadium and the appearance of title contention. This is why I felt the only chance we had was if Isiah could keep working the draft and making moves to get this team closer to the top. Then we'd have to hope we could pull off a good trade to get the rest of the way there. Cuz to be honest we're not gonna be the next Portland anytime soon. At least not in my lifetime, cuz Dolan won't let that happen.

The best chance we have is thru trades like Boston, Miami and Detroit did. If your owner won't let you do it thru the draft then there's little else you can do. That's why i'm a Gamer so to speak. Not cuz I want to accept the status quo or mediocrity, but due to the reality of the situation we've always been in with Dolan. We all know this, and yet so many want to ignore the facts. You can't wish for Isiah to lose just cuz you dislike him, you have want this team to get better and win cuz it's gonna help to give this team a chance to get things done, via trade. The only thing Dolan will allow is trades and FA signings.

I don't believe that we can get anything and I mean ANYTHING good in trades. We have no assets. We will not get any decent player in FA too - who would want to play for MDE and who would want to play for THIS mess? All we can get is another JJ-X.
Get real. With Isiah on board this team is doomed...

Numb as can be. Obviously you want the players to try as hard as they can, but they don't, except maybe once every 3 games. Perfect for mediocrity and keeping us out of reach of the top 3 picks. I used to get pissed off at this team. Now I just don't care. They aren't close to championship calibre. I don't trust Isiah with ANY picks that we have. I don't think Isiah is going anytime soon.

So what's the point in me getting worked up now. I'm just looking foward to pitchers and catchers now. The sad thing is, my sister wants me to go to a KNicks game with her boyfriend, whom I rarely see.

I voted GAMER because the season is still young. The East is up for grabs. If we can just string some victories up together we might just get the momentum shift we need. The Cavs win and Marbury's departure are already two good signs. LET'S GO KNICKS!!!

I'm definitely a gamer. I would never be into sports if I rooted for a team to lose. And yes, I know the long term outlook and what it means, but I don't know I could committed to watching a team if I wanted to see them lose.

Yeah, maybe it doesn't hurt so much when they don't win, as things are going now. And it also doesn't hurt as much when you hate the captains of the ship with a passion. But still, if you ever catch me watching a game I'm rooting pretty hard (with some solid booing mixed in between).

Now you can't be this harsh in your outlook. For one thing we did get something good when we made the trade for Zach. What we gave up and what we're getting from Zach and Jones is actually GREAT value. Just because the team hasn't been in synch, doesn't mean that those players are mistakes or bad trade values. The thing is that the players are capable of playing much better and we've seen evidence of that. The losses are hard to take and I understand that there's no reason for most of us to have faith in this roster, but as bad as it's been this team has the ability to turn it around and raise the collective value of the players we have. We can then make a trade for what we need much easier of this team plays better. So we can't depend on Dolan to ever allow a rebuild. Heck he won't even fire Isiah. The only chance we have is that we can get on track and play better and change the attitude about the players on this team. Then we may be able to get a player we need and clear some of the glut and inbalance we have.

Gotta say gamer. Even though I can't get excited for first-round exits (which seems to be our team's ceiling at this point, IMO), I'm really tired of all the losing.

Hmmm, lets see. What type of Knick fan am I?

Well, I've been accused of being:

A Racist
An Isiahsexual
A Brownoser
A Dolan Apologist
A troll who isn't a Knick fan is just "here" to cause problems and should be banned.
A Lover
A Hater (and even a hatter)

There's been more but....who cares. (I cant remember heh)

As to this individual poll: Again, I can't tune into 82 games and root AGAINST my favorite team. Can't do it. If you came to me right now (mid day friday) and said "Hey, Cos I heard that if the Bobcats beat us tonight Isiah gets fired!" that is the one and only time I'd root for the team to lose.

As to tanking does it every _really_ work out for teams? You're not guaranteed a franchise player based on your losses so why do that to yourself as a fan? (Root for them to lose EVERY game).

If you're in that mode, as I suggested to The Greek, then one might be better off not watching and not following the team - UNTIL - you read that headline one morning that Isiah Thomas has been fired.

Otherwise, what's the point? I tune in to watch the Knicks play and hope they win the game. Nowadays I don't count on it, and when they do I'm rather emotionless over it unless it's a TRULY exciting game, and I'm really just waiting for the inevitable in Isiah's firing.

I'm not so certain it's as inevitable as you and most other people think. Don't forget who makes that decision.
