And here is the crazy thing Killa, most of the people that called Eddy out for being injury prone completely disregard Oden's history. From Adande's article:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=adande_ja&page=OdenSurgery
Oden missed the start of his lone college season at Ohio State because of surgery on his right wrist, which was slow to heal. Before the draft, he was diagnosed with bulging disc in his back. He was sidelined this summer because of tonsillitis, and he also complained of fatigue after making the press conference-talk show-promotional appearance-ESPY rounds in the weeks after the NBA draft.

If his body can't hold up while he's a 19-year-old, what's going to happen in the long run?
Will these be chronic problems? Given Oden's blog report that he first noticed the pain while getting up off a couch this summer, you have to wonder: if it hurts to do that, how much damage will a night of banging against Yao Ming inflict?

A Moment of Silence for Hank Gaithers

I wish Greg Oden better health, but...

... after surviving a heart scare (which is a scare fo' yo azz) how (on the real tip) can Eddy Curry (considered damaged goods by many) NOT receive hearts and minds consideration for a variation on Comeback Player of The Year after playing in 81 games and having his best year ever?

I wasn't sure before, but this knee injury seals the deal for me. By all means, trade Curry for Oden.

I want to see this guy go up against Dwight Howard for the next 15 years. The big men are making a comeback early. I just hope Oden comes back healthy. Look at the big men in the west with Oden, Amare, Duncan, Yao, Boozer and promise of Bynum. Hope the big men will battle for years.

Oden is out for the season with knee surgery.

That's the only reason it's a remotely reasonable question to ask.

Here's another reason. He had another major injury about a year ago. The guy could very well be fragile. That's why I voted no. If he recovers and stays healthy, he'll probably become the best center in the nba. Right now, however, that's looking like a big if.

In a heartbeat, if you have been watching a lot of these replay games the team looks a lot better with curry off the floor, there is a lot more energy. the team needs a defender and is a fringe playoff team, if you have to wait two years you do it, while collins, lee, balkman, chandler mature

weren't his heart issues associated with use of ephedra?

You almost have to do it, considering it's Oden and his age.

Good call. No way do I trade Curry for Oden. There is no telling how he will recover from this injury. Not to mention his histroy of being knicked up.....

And yet through all his nick nack injuries he proved to be the best 2 way player in college basketball. I think people need to stop blowing microfracture surgery out of proportion. Jason Kidd just recently came off of the surgery and looked like the a Top 3 point guard in the NBA last yr.

Who doesn't like Oden as a PROSPECT? It all looks good at this point, but can Oden play one DAMN GAME in the NBA before we start saying he's some kind of lock to be a franchise player. He's got a lot of work to do on his game still. Thankfully he does the other things on the court that a Center should do. Curry may not be a perfect player, but he is big and strong and I hope he continues to stay healthy. I doubt Oden will be able to stop Curry either. Like all the other C's in the league he'll probably get abused too, so bring him on. Break on Curry all you like, but the guy is an emerging BEAST in the post.

Curry has a few things to do in order to reach the highest levels, but we're talking about a few more bounds and an assist or 2. I'm not expecting a lot of blocked shots from him, but if he does inprove his reb and asts this guy is an All Star. So I have no problem sticking with this guy and continuing to work with Curry on his game. I'm not afraid to say that i'm happy with the fact that we have Curry as opposed to not having him. Would I prefer Oden... I don't know yet. On potential he looks like he would be the better player. We still have to see it tho.

Fair enough, but I feel like I know what he can do and he's proven to be very effective as a scorer in the post. Now I just want to see him continue to add on to his skills. His actual time in the league isn't the issue. It's about what he's capable of doing and how much of his promise he'll fulfill. Call me when Oden actually avg's 20/7 or more a game. Since he's yet to play a game we don't know what he'll actually do against NBA players and defenses over 82 games. When he's commanding double and triple teams in addition to the blocks, asts and rebs, then I would say he's a bonifide stud.

Meanwhile i'm pulling for Curry, WHO ACTUALLY PLAYS FOR MY TEAM, to have a strong year and make the All Star team. I would hope that you want the same for him.

Would you trade Curry for Oden + cap filler?
