If this Knicks team comes back next year in tact with just a few minor changes, do you consider them to be a playoff team?

I think so because next year, the "Layden Effect" will be almost totally dissipated. (Of course, I could be underestimating the power of the Layden Effect).

While it is true that the Larry Brown Malaise will continue to linger, and that the Knicks will probably never recover from having once had Clarence Weatherspoon and Howard Eisley on this team, I'm confident that the Knicks can make the first round of the playoffs next year (where they will be eliminated.)

So long as there are no injuries, of course.

I voted yes only if Zeke stops dicking around with the rotation and insert Lee and the Balkster at the 4 and 3 spot. I would also like to see Mardy to start with Marbury or at least be the first guard off the bench. An 8 man rotation of...

C-Curry
PF-Lee
SF-Balkster
SG-Marbury
PG-Mardy

Bench-Jamal, Frye, Morris

would push us to the 6th seed in the playoffs next year.

Hard to say. I think we'll be capable of 39 wins, but I also expect improvement from teams like NJ, Orlando, Philly, possibly Milwaulkee, Charlotte...

We're not the only team who stands to improve.

I like this lineup but only if Balk and Lee can convince me they have consistent 15 foot shots.

Lee has shown me enough that his J can be consitent. The Balkster looks to have nice mechanics and just needs time in the gym and confidence to make the shots. My worries on this lineup is tha ability of Morris and Frye to rebound and defend.

I'd like to see a little more QRich (please be healthy) and Jeffries out there (new and improved ofcourse)

I did see flashes of defense and doing the "little things" from jeffries and maybe the fractured wrist (has to affect your shot) and the brawl suspension had an affect...not to mention at the end of the season, he was basically running on fumes.

But he is smart when we go to a zone defense and a ton of times I saw him basically have to cover for Frye's inability to rotate properly.

Just as I saw marbury covering for Francis and giving up the three, a lot of times, it's not just you, but it's the man to the left and the man to the right.

Frye and Francis were the main cogs in our defensive wheel IMHO.

Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I felt that this team should make the playoffs this year so there's no question in my mind that next year with a bit more development of our young players, more chemistry from another year together and maybe a new SG/SF this team will make the playoffs.

The Atlantic will be tougher next year than it was this year. At least that's the feeling I get. Tor, NJ, Philly and Bos are going to be better. How much is hard to say, but I can see them all taking a step up.

Standing pat is the safe move for Isiah. He'll have a team full of young guys and with that comes a bit more slack. If he adds more vets there are bigger expectations. Now that he knows he's gonna be around to see the Knicks get under the cap, his tatics may have changed a bit, to being more patient. He's likely thinking that with the youth he has, waiting a couple more years won't hurt him at all. The team will be in it's prime and he can take advantage of that then.

Alot of other eastern conf teams will be better too, should be intresting.

Charlotte Orlando, Philly, Boston after this draft.

What most haven't brought up is the knicks don't play well with a full roster, guys start pressing knowing they can easily get the hook for bad shot or missed assignment.

The players are almost competing with each other for playing time which can have selfish undertones to it.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Throw in Atlanta although they are giving their pick away to Phx they still have the Pacers pick at 12 and have assets to make a trade to make a move up in the Top 10. That team needs Conley in the worst way. They also have mild cap space.

Atlanta is well established loser. Can NY do same next year? Will see... but they are strongly on the way.

that's a good point. I voted now but I think they would make the 8th seed if they did what you're saying. I just don't expect it. Not with higher priced players playing behind players on rookie contracts.

We need a perimeter threat, a very good threat, it's the only way for curry to become an allstar.

the only way for curry to become an all star is if shaq and howard are hurt and oden goes west.

I would say yes, but if Curry misses a single game with a strained vagina, people will say that's why we didn't make the playoffs... I'm sure the excuses will be rampant. Right now, I say no, since the bottom of the east will be significantly better next year.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
