other = laugh himself to the point of puking when he reads another of misterearl's undecipherable odes to the state of the knick franchise and the "culture of winning" or some such deluded achievement that he's ascribing to isiah "the george w. bush of gm's" thomas.

Marv - c'mon, I thought you were better than resorting to a personal attack. The curious thing about the Morris case is there is no precedent.

We can always agree to disagee on "the state of the Knicks", but that is another thread. This is not about me.

Just for tonight, in your opinion, how does Morris perform?

good signing. i'm on the attack because his other "good moves," e.g., ariza, butler, johnson, woods, udoka, etc. are all gone, and instead we have such heavy hitters as francis, jeffries, frye, curry and of course the still paid rose and taylor, and yet i'm still reading posts from you telling us about this swell culture of winning the dude's creating as we head straight into the toilet of yet another failing season with our lottery pick given away.

other than that, i'm sure i have nothing but agreement for your rosiest of statements.

Marv - hold up. This is not a referendum on whether it is a "good signing" or not. Pay attention.

This is a historic occassion with no precedent. A college player stepping from NCAA Tournamant to an NBA game (possibly) in one week. It has never happened.

I just want to see how the self-proclaimed hoops experts predict how he will perform... BEFORE he steps on the court. Anyone can throw dirt balls after the fact.

Can you put aside the anti-Knicks vitriol for a moment to talk basketball?

Lemme 'splain how it works Marv.

You put your basketball knowledge on the line and "man-up" an opinion of Randolph Morris IN ADVANCE. You base your opinion on the available evidence of Morris' college perforamnce curve, and you make an informed analysis of his first baby steps in the NBA.

Or you can wait until after the game to say,

"I told you so"

Either way, it's cool.

For example. I'll take a step and place my (cough) reputation on the line and without any fear, or changing the topic, offer up Morris stat line for tonight, in 18 minutes of his first NBA game, with the benefit of only one practce ("man, we talkin' 'bout practice") :

10 points

5 Rebounds

but hey, that's just me.

it's not really talking basketball. predicting how he'll do in his first game??? you want to predict how many minutes he'll get? points and rebounds and blocks? earl, your setups are too obvious. just get it over with now and say everything possible good about isiah and this signing and everything bad possible about anyone who doubts him.

the fact that isiah made a nice signing now is hardly a worthy distraction from the mess he's created. the kid, if he'll be any good, will need some time and work to develop it. so far david lee is the only kid that's developed under isiah. everyone else is either floundering or traded for overpriced crap. thsi morris signing isn't happening in a vacuum or at the beginning of a season when the bad memories of the last one are starting to fade a bit. if you want to add it to the list of reasons to praise the job that isiah's done, help yourself. but in the bigger picture of the overall state of this franchise, it's nothing more than a quick shot of koolaid.

Morris admittedly had no clue as to how big tonight's game with Orlando looms as the Knicks seek to end a losing spiral. And he'll be anxious in his first few official moments.

"At first, I'll probably be a little nervous," he said. "After a couple transitions, I'll probably be fine."
