Player A and Player B are both 6'7" They are identical in every way except this One guy gets you 2.5 steals per game with no blocks One guy gets you 2.5 blocks per game with no steals Which player would you rather have on your team if you need in an 82 game season.

Blocks are overrated so I'm going with the Steals Guy.

I'm going with blocks guy. Arguably steals are more valuable than blocks because not only do you stop the other team from scoring, but you also get possession and a good shot at a fast break. However, the subtext is that steals tend to be gambles and going for a steal and missing can hurt your D. Whereas shotblockers can have a big impact on intimidating and altering shots, even those that are not actually blocked.

Blocks definitely.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I voted steals. But it was a tough choice. I wondered how a poll would turn out with many responses, if there is an obvious preference. So far its 2 votes for each.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Blocks. shotblockers help the defense throughout the game and change the way it's played. steals guys gamble too much and can often hurt the defense, though not always.

shotblocks are overrated was one of Isiah's most incorrect, not to mention stupidest quotes.

do the gambles of shotblockers equal the gambles of guys who pick up steals?

has someone studied this?

I think you have to assume 'no gambling' to answer this question.

The guy gets his 2.5 steals legit, by erstwhile defense, and the Shotblocker doesn't cause unnecessary goaltends and gamble unnecessarily either. Would you still rather have the shotblocker?

I'd take both. You can get the guy who steals two and the guy who blocks two.
I'll never trust this' team again.
