Jerome McJames is now our starting center with Curry at the 4. (they say at least till the all-star break) How do you feel about this bold move by Isiah to start a player who has rarely played in the past 2 seasons and is visably out of shape

James starting is the grossest example of Isiah putting making Curry look good over the development of the team. It's turning into all about Curry when it comes to saving his job.

Starting James does nothing for the development of Frye or Lee (well maybe it helps Frye because anyone with a clue knows he's really a center) by cutting into their minutes but it does help cover up Curry's many deficiencies. And that's the point of all this, to help Curry, and make him look good, regardless of everything and everyone else.

Curry and Frye didn't work because a) neither rebounds, b)neither plays defense, and c) neither blocks shots. Starting Lee would definitely help out with the rebounding, but we desperately need someone to clog the paint and contest shots on the defensive end because Curry refuses to do so. I say it's worth a shot. It seemed to work pretty well against the Magic...the extra size definitely seemed to trouble them. I doubt it will be nearly as effective against a team with a quicker front court, but we shall see. As long as Lee continues to get consistent minutes, I'm fine with this move.

the problem with this duo is rebounding. Maybe if we had a J Kidd type that could grab 10 boards from the back court, this wouldn't be such an issue.

They're starting 2 centers to do the job that one center should be able to do. Be a low post presence on offense (Curry) and be an intimidating presence on defense (James kinda).

And because of that, 2 players who are supposed to be keys to this rebuilding will be coming off the bench with perhaps their minutes being cut into by James.

All because Curry refuses to put his hands up and make an effort on defense.

It's a lot like what the Knicks used to do with Monty Williams, Bonner, and many others. Put a defensive-oriented bench guy in the starting lineup for 10-15mpg.

This time, however, it's a center. James is huge and alters a lot of shots. His giant presence makes shots near the basket uncomfortable... perhaps setting a tone.

This is a non issue. JJ will foul out of most of his starts before the opening tap so I would not worry about Lee/Frye's time at all.

I voted for ridiculous because it is such a sad sad state of affairs, but that does not mean that I don't think it is at least within reason . . . "reason" is the wrong word . . . within the realm of possibility that we will have fewer bad starts. And, if we do have a bad start, I think IT will pull James quicker than he would have pulled Frye, and Lee will get into the game that much more quickly.

Technically aren't James and Curry more like Blobs than centers?
And wouldn't two blobs blend into each other becoming one, single Blob?
And therefore, couldn't we start DLee along with James, Curry, Marbs, Craw and Q and still technically only be starting 5 players?

The knicks were already starting 2 centers. Why does it have to be about curry only? Frye is the homo. Hes on the bench now because of it.

Starting Jerome by the way could be showcasing big game. With the ray Allen rumors, maybe isiah is trying to give Seattle a look at their fan favorite.

the only gm that would fall for this "showcasing" of jerome is the guy that signed him to the MLE.

Because the homo in question doesn't provide a low post presence on offense nor is an intimidating presence on defense. He just likes to stand around the perimeter and flick his wrist.
