i had a hard time choosing between dumping Marbury & starting Lee in place of Frye... i chose dumping Marbury... here's why:

1 - getting rid of Marbury immediately shifts Q to the SG & Craw or Francis become the regular PG... that means you can start Lee at the SF & kill 2 birds w/1 stone

2 - getting rid of Marbury also opens up playing time for Mardy Collins

3 - getting rid of Marbury gets rid of the biggest distraction on the team & the biggest tie to Isiah left remaining

4 - historically teams have shown improvement after getting rid of Marbury in the past

How about sitting Steve Francis, moving Q over to the two and moving Lee over to the 3 spot.

i'd rather get rid of Marbury's dour presence & move on... Francis' contract is at least a bit more bearable, so a possible future trade is somewhat feasible if he ever gets his game back.

I should have said trade or buyout, but what I really mean is get rid of. Then get rid of Marbury and watch the kids run.

Get rid of Marbury? you dont get rid of one of the best point guards in the league. If they keep playing like this, dont move anyone.

How about change nothing and wait the year out for once?
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

Get rid of Marbury? you dont get rid of one of the best point guards in the league. If they keep playing like this, dont move anyone.

Marbury hasn't been 1 of the best PG's in the league for over a year now. I can easily name at least 14 other PG's who are better than him in the NBA. Iverson, Nash, Kidd, Paul, Miller, Arenas, Billups, Parker, Ford, Deron Williams, Cassell, Bibby, Baron Davis, Hinrich just off the top of my head & I can even make an argument for a guy like Brevin Knight. I'm not even sure he's the best PG on his own team anymore now w/Nate playing the way he has, Jamal's game coming along & Francis being a very comparably skilled player as Marbury is as well.

for his part, Marbury's been playing unselfishly this season for which I give him some props, but fails to take over games when the team needs him to (w/the exception of that San Antonio game which they lost where he wetn off for a 2 minute stretch in the 4th quarter to make the game close). I'm not so sure he's playing unselfishly because he wants to or because he can no longer take over games the way he used to. I just haven't seen nearly the same type of quickness off the dribble or ability to get off his shots in traffic the way he was able to do before throughout the game. He had some good success in the WAS & MIA games getting penetration into the lane early on & the team won both those games in a blowout, so it's not really a fair telling on whether or not his skills have returned or not.

Marbury came into the season saying he wanted to play more like Starbury of old, but as it looks now I don't even know if he's physically capable of doing so anymore. Maybe he's consciously deferring to others by choice like he said, maybe he's injured & doesn't want to use that as an excuse, maybe he's just beatup & worn down at an early age & too proud to admit it, or maybe he just doesn't have the motivation anymore to play like 1 of the best PG's in the game? More games will tell the full story.

the question was which move would improve the Knicks the most right now, not what you want or think the Knicks should do this year... standing pat & doing nothing would improve the team the most right now in your eyes?

(not that that's not a fair response... just looking for clarification on why you would think doing nothing would be the best way to improve this year)
