I was reading the boards and Bippity had by far the best post in terms of summing up how everyone at UK feels (coming in at a close second was islefat) so, why not see what the board feels? Here is the poll, here is the post...

By the way, I only call islesfat names, I always appreciate all the other posters, unless I'm in europe and/or drunk (time difference is a bicth and those amsterdam posts are a doozy) So, which one are you closest to at this point in time?

Just couldn't tell you. I guess I'm in the minority. I agree we have the talent to win 50 games, but on the flip side, things can go terrible and you can always be worse than what you were the year before. It all depends on a players commitment, if they are willing to put their egos aside, if they consistently play hard on both ends, if they can fight through bad times. So much to look at, it's hard to see how this team can do so great though. I am saving my predictions though. I'm not gonna get myself all worked up on either send of the spectrum nor in the middle.

In terms of pure talent, I believe this Knicks team might be better overall, than the 90s Knicks but they lack a clear franchise player.

Ewing was an all-world talent who demanded double & triple teams--- and in spite of that, still shot 50% and was a lock for 20+ppg/11+rpg for a long stretch. He was a true franchise player.

The Knicks do not have anything close to that right now-- I don't know if there's any single player on the Knicks team that consistently draws double-teams (help defense is a different story)... which means we have to play a team game with picks and stuff, oh my.

If I have to pick a #, I'll say 40 wins. I think the team is better than the 33 win team from two years ago and will be coached better.

I'm sticking with 38 wins, though I could easily see them winning 87 regular season games if Balkman gets going.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

37-38 wins with no defense from the players that matter most. I expect guys like Jared, Lee, Jamal to play be playing defense though.

I voted 35-39, which will make things more entertaining. I'm going into the season hopeful that Isiah and the gang come in with cohesion and attitude. I want to see a tough minded team. That's something Isiah of all people ought to bring.

I picked "rvhoss is a complete loser who needs people on message boards to like him for some kind of pathetic validation".

I'm expecting somewhere between 42-46 wins. I think this team is ready to put things together this year. Its just the beginning of an upswing in this teams fortunes. We have enough youth, skill and talent to compete with most teams in the league. Its just gonna come down to establishing an identity as a team. It may not start of great, but I think we'll be a playoff team this year.

We have a LOT of players who just came here in the last year:

Curry, Francis, Frye, Jared, Lee, Nate, QRich, Jalen, James, Balkman, Collins

People talk all the time about this teams past and to me that past is really only about the last year, when 11 of your players came during that period of time. This team really doesn't have a long history together and I'm not gonna use last year as my basis for determining what I think this team can be. MOST of our players are good guys and coachable, so I really don't care about all the Knick stereotypes that are thrown around to describe our team. For me this is a fresh start and a clean slate.

I'm with Nixluva, not on total wins but I think the players have run out of excuses and now is a season to wipe the slate clean. The players know this is a safe face season and it's up to them to show who they truly are. Either way, good or bad they will be exposed. I think with a coach that the players get along with and a system designed for the players we should quickly get our assesss back to a level of mediocrity that only NY Knick fans can view as an optimistic result.

Bippity10 your optimism for the team is overwhelming. Man, I wish the season would start. At least, preseason so we can have some new things to talk about.

Nobody hates Balkman. It's just fun to pick on the kool aid drinkers who think he's Rodman-Artest, etc... I just, for once, would like to see some REALISTIC expectations on our players, our team and our record, put on by the masses of the Knicks forums.

I still see a lot of kool aid going around. This was a 23 win team last year. Seeing predictions having us doubling that seems a little far fetched, but we shall see.

Solace are you being serious or are you just being sarcastic?

I figure this team should've won at least 38 games last year, which isn't too much to ask, since they won 33 the year before with a less balanced team. I expected more than that, but I admit to being overly optimistic about the effect LB would have on the team. I thought he'd bring in stability and a more disciplined game. So I was expecting over 40 wins. I knew that LB was good for an avg of about 10 wins more in his 1st year, so I was optimistic.

I think this year this team will have a better rotation and with a more positive attitude from the whole team, we should see at least a .500 team. You can't compare our SL from last year to what we'll have this year. As i've said before its better.

Steph, QRich, Barnes, AD & Curry vs. Most likely, Steph, Francis, Jared, Frye & Curry or even Steph, Jamal, Jared, Frye & Curry. I like this years possible version much better. With a more set lineup and rotation, I think this team will jell faster and give us a better shot to win as the year goes on.

Why specifically do you feel this team can't come close to doubling the win total from last year? If that's what you really feel?
