Did LB want these guys? We know he's not the GM, but did he want them, thats all I want to know. We have heard Isiah say it, the papers said it, Dolan said it, and Larry Brown himself has said it. I just want to know what the consencus is at this point.

"Both those trades I spoke to Larry directly," Dolan said angrily. "Both of those trades he was an advocate for. The first one, quote, I'm dying here, I got to have this guy, that's Jalen Rose. The second one, Steve Francis, he said, I'm begging you to do this. No less than three weeks after, that's 80 million worth of transactions, I was told these guys are no good, we have to get rid of them. How do I take that?"

Sounds like the Larry Brown I know.

We need Jack Bauer and tell him that Dolan made a pass at Kim.

it is, and I COMPLETELY agree that there is good reason that LB pushed and wanted those 2 guys. I can see a scenario where he really wanted Jalen and said to Isiah/Dolan that Francis is indeed and HUGE upgrade over Penny/Ariza but forgot to leave out the downside risks of having Stevie with this group of guys.

BUT. You know there is always a but..... kid in a candy store theory. You just can't give and so OK to everything your kid asks for just cause he/she is asking. Got to temper is with your own thinking, that's the balance a GM/coach HAS TO HAVE. That's why Philly worked so well. Ditto Indiana.

I voted I don't know because I know that Zeke pursued Jalen since he got here and there was a ruomoured deal of Penny for Jalen that was close to being completed well before Larry got here. Jalen is the only one I can see Larry wanting. I can see him maybe wanting Stevie with the stipulation that Steph be moved, which obviously never happened.

Yes, Brown wanted those players, then he hypnotized Isiah and Dolan so that they had no personal free will and had them execute the trades. So you see, Isiah and Dolan bear no responsibility whatsoever for those trades. They were helpless under Larry's evil spell.

honestly, it doesn't matter at all anymore. the more important question is, what is Isiah gonna do with francis now? he's trying to make it clear he never wanted francis, which can't sit well with stevie, and seems to indicate that isiah wants him gone. is he definitely on the way out? and for who? if kmart was LB's idea too, and I can't see isiah trading for eddie jones, who is left that we can reasonably get?

All I know is 2 days before the draft talking down two guys one of which you may have a very hard time moving is the antithesis of good timing.

I agree with you nyballer. Whats the difference now that Larry is gone. I chose No becuase Brown never liked coaching these types of players and since he already clashed so much with Marbury then bringing in Francis would have been the same deal.

Besides, as long as Isiah has been here he has been after Rose and he has liked to make splashy player transactions such as Francis before.

As I said though, its a moot point since Brown is no longer here.

i'd guess that lb didn't want them because neither of them are defenders and francis is definitely not the heady type of point guard brown wanted out there. but now, with francis' value already way below where it should be, isiah thomas goes and says he never wanted him here and that he was another one of larry brown's mistakes, hurting his trade value even more. then again, the fact that Isiah didn't want him might make GMs think he's still capable.

Brown said he wanted the players and if he didn't he wouldn't have said that. He had NO PROBLEM disobeying company policy and the orders of his bosses, by saying nasty things about the players, so why would he try to be a company man all of a sudden and say that HE IS THE ONE that asked for the players?

I find it funny that some are willing to blame Isiah for listening to LB and giving him what he wants, when that's exactly what they wanted Isiah to do. They wanted us to trust LB more than anyone else in the organization, due to his track record, but not when it comes to these two players. HYPOCRITS!
