Frye 9, Diaw 5. I thought Frye would have a hometown advantage. I like Frye a lot but I picked Diaw because he can do everything so well. He's a five position, five stat player who's great on both ends of the court.
For all the people who are voting for Frye: What does he do better or will he do better than Diaw?

What Diaw primarily does better is play for a better team with better players and a better system. Boris has skills and athleticism, but he's not 6'11 and doesn't have the jumper or scoring ability Frye has.

I don't know. If we had a 23 year old, five position player averaging close to a tripple double we'd call him the next Magic Johnson! Diaw's averaging 19/9/8 as a starter this month and 13/7/6 for the season. He looks like the better scorer, defender, and shot-blocker, and FAR better passer and playmaker. You're right that Frye has the better jump shot. I'll give you that one.

You won't give me that Diaw plays with a better team, a better system and a faster pace that allows him to accumulate more stats than Frye? Stats aren't accumulated in a vacuum. Diaw looked like a worse version of a Trevor Ariza the last 2 years, but now he's gotten his chance to flourish on a team that utilizes his abilities to the max.

Diaw's very good, and will continue to get better. Still gotta go with the 6'11 Frye. But why compare an SF to a PF/C anyway.

so true. Stodemire is not an elite rebounder by any standards, but he got 9 last year. imo frye on the suns would be 20/8 THIS YEAR!

First of all, dont kid yourself, nobody on the Suns plays defense, they're too busy scoring. Defense isnt just about blocking or stealing (see Crawford, Jamal)

Secondly, yes Diaw is a better passer/playmaker (although it remains to be seen what Channing would be like playing with Nash in D'Antoni's system), but Frye is a superior shotblocker and post player.

Besides, Diaw has had 2 years in the league to adapt to how his opposing man will act. Channing's had much less.

To me Channing has the edge here.

well to me, Frye is the better scorer and rebounder now. diaw definately is better at distributing and passing, but he is also playing with the best PG in the league and learning alot from nash. who's to say frye wont be able to average more than 1.08 blocks/game in 2 yrs. i think he will. but this goes back to the argument that people get into with comparing curry to the #1 pick. its difficult to compare a rookie(or an unknown) to a more established player.

Frye by a mile... he'll be a 20 & 8 guy w/in 2 years if given the playing time.

20 ppg over 82 isn't as easy as some here are trying to make it sound.

i think he's alot closer than you may think... he just needs to work on his conditioning so that he can endure the rigors of a full NBA season... 1 offseason of hard work can bring him up to speed, & his work ethic is the last thing i'm worried about w/Frye... he had a stretch of games where he was averaging over 20 a game earlier this season, & i think he can have alot more games like that if LB ever allows him to get the minutes he needs to develop into that allstar player we all know he can be.

as for the comparisons to Diaw, offensively Frye is better than he is already & at least as good of a rebounder as well... Diaw is a good defender & versatile swingman who can block shots & runs the floor well... a perfect role player on that Suns team... his high shooting % is a direct result of playing alongside Steve Nash as he gets so many wide open looks off backdoor cuts & dishes off Nash's penetration into the lane... Frye's a much better shooter & more polished in the low post... there's no way i think Diaw will ever be a better player than Frye 2 years from now... just my own opinion.

I agree with you on this one. (Well wearing a Knicks jersey and shooting jumpshots.) That's nothing against Frye; I do like him a lot.

I posted the same poll on realgm where neither player would have a hometown advantage. After fifteen votes, it's 80% Diaw, 20% Frye.

The Suns lead the league in the shot attempts, and average 5 more shot attempts per game than the 2nd place team and 7 more shots than the NBA average. 10.3 more shots than the Knicks. Style of play has a HUGE impact on the stats of these guys. Theoretically, that's an opportunity for 20-30 more points, 10 more assists, 10 more rebs etc.
