i'd take that backcourt over Marbury & Crawford anyday... i guess that qualifies me as a douchebag.

How about it's like the combo of "Islesfan and Bonn"?
I tend to be an optimistic person and would at least hope that it would work out great. Adding Steve wouldn't be my first choice, but I could definitely see potential positives if we did it. So I picked "Isiah and Joey D." (I listed higher choices in the other thread.)

DJ--I think its the best case scenario of a bad situation. this is a league of stars--you start adding guys like jalen rose steve francis and no matter what you think, these guys are HUGE upgrades from what we have--HUGE. Im not getting on Isiah for trying to use an ended or jamal on franchise.


Im much more inclined to say that Im in favor of drafting one of the uconn bigs or Al Horford with the first pick and Aaron Gray with pick 28.

This would be a prolific backcourt. An obvious upgrade from Marbs and Q. Francis also adds another guy to this team who understands how to penetrate and dish. Curry will benefit tremendously. One problem I can see is that at times, Franchise has sticky fingers and doesn't move the ball much while he overdribbles. But playing him at the two, rectify that problem.

i'm sorry but it's simple math:

1 part steph + 1 part francis + 1 part guy who thinks that's a good idea = 1 WHOLE DOUCHEBAG

best case scenario of a bad situation is so not what we should be trying to do. how can you legitimately sit and watch a team of steph + francis + jalen? yuck. i would have to take a sabbatical...

how can you currently sit & watch a team of Steph+Craw+Nate for that matter? what do u think the chances would be of acquiring a star calibre player for players like Q Rich & Crawford? now switch that up & consider what you could get for Francis (or Marbury if they decide to trade him instead down the road)... it's about obtaining assets like previously discussed... right now, Crawford & Q Rich are not worth much as trade assets... a guy like Steve Francis can only increase his trade value playing in a big market like NY... look at how Vince Carter has rejuvenated his career in NJ.

the deal wouldn't be for qrich or craw.
if we're getting francis, it will be in a bdiddy type dump.

probably something like penny + nate/dlee

obtaining assets? at what point do we just settle with our young assets and cultivate them? bringing in francis will only lead to moving more rooks b/c then we'd be right back to "one player away" mode.

it's a vicious cycle that we can't seem to get out of...

but hey, we need vets during a rebuild right? especially when those vets get 35-40 mins a night.

Young assets? Frye is the only potential starter. Lee is role player at best and Nate doesn't crack the rotation of a true championship contending team.

Your trading role players and has-beens for a player who could potentially become our best player in Francis. This makes too much sense.

Really, at least Francis and Marbs would guarantee that LB would retire earlier. He seems to be on the early retirement path already. Why delay the inevitable?
