Just for clarification: Assume we're talking about RIGHT NOW (not in their mid 20s or at their peaks)

Duncan #1

Used to be Shaq not anymore though, he's not the same player. He's well over 30 and with that body he isn't durable. So I put KG 2nd right now. KG & Wade would be unstoppable! Luckily Miami didn't give up much to get Shaq. It was a great trade for them because it gives them a chance eventhough Shaq is declining.

I'd say Duncan has the slight edge over KG. Duncan really needs to be double teamed anytime he has the ball. KG too, but he settles for jumpers alot, like last year when we beat them. He let KT slow him down on the perimeter, and that was not very smart.

KG is more versatile on D though, do you remember when they played zone on us, and he was guarding Allan Houston. He was giving him a very tough time.

yeah man people don't realize the things KG can do defensively. if this was baseball he'd be the #1 5 tool player

KG is a physical anomoly (SP?).

We're talking about a guy that can guard 4 or more positions on any given night.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Duncan is the most fundamentally sound. Shaq is the most physically gifted. Garnett is the one without the ring.

Duncan plays in a great system some very deep teams with veterans who know how to win like David Robinson, Sean Elliot, Mario Ellie, Avery Johnson.

Shaq also played in a great system and won with the help of Kobe and Phil

KG played with Sam Mitchell, some other bums, a streaky latrell sprewell and same cassell who at the end of the season was breaking down

I'm pretty sure you put KG in LA in Shaq's place with Phil and Kobe and he wins a few championships or put him in Popvich's system and with that great Spurs foreign scouting and he wins a few there too

I go with Duncan, no question. I think the big thing that separates him from KG is that his offensive game emphasizes post ups more, whereas KG's emphasizes midrange jumpers more. The post option is superior as a go-to option down the stretch of tight games and it also opens more opportunities for teammates.

Steve Nash has been the league MVP. KG has too. Shaq could concievably win it almost every year he has been in the league.

Wow; only 3 out of 15 voted for Shaq. I'm surprised. I think it's KG. He's just had the worst teammates. But no big man does more things on both ends of the court than he does. None can pass, handle, or steal the ball like he does. They're all comparably good scorers, rebounders, and shot-blockers. I think TD and KG are better defensive players than Shaq because they're much more mobile.

Shaw shot 60% last year!!!! That is ****ing phenomenal for a guy who averaged 22 points per game.

The problem with the poll question is that it combines best and dominant together. Duncan maybe the best big men while Shaq could still be the most dominant. I mean Shaq can imposed his will or should I say girth on a player in the post. Duncan fundamental skills (except FT shooting) is unmatch for a big man. KG I feel is neither dominant nor that fundamental skilled. What he is a 6'11'' version of LBJ. A guy who can do everything on the court but not dominate at any one thing.
