Yes, I don't think he's a Hall of Famer. databasebasketball.com doesn't have him as one either though Jason Kidd is.

He won't get in today, but he will after learning how to be a winner and a leader from Larry and Isiah.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Could we let the season play out at least? How about half of a season?

Stat wise you almost have to say yes in that Oscar Robertson was the ONLY other player to average 20 and 8 assists.....but I want to see if he can lead a team to come up with a real solid answer.

I'm not attacking Marbury, I'm just curious how good fans believe he is.

I'd vote yes if the team were 2-4, but we're 1-5, so I have to vote no.

I say Yes just look at the numbers, better then jason Kidd. Only one other Gaurd has his stat-line O. Robertson a fall of Famer.

in that case, so is Stevie Franchise considering he is in rare company with a career 20 6 and 6 average, a stat btw which holds a ton more weight amongst the record keepers than the 20 and 8.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Marbs? At this time after 9 seasons, the answer is no. He has stats and nothing else.

Yes, Nash is in. He is way over the minumum 135 points that qualifies. Its not a lock (ask Spencer Haywood) but Nash has 175 pts. Marbs 106. Still nice numbers and he is projecting a hall of fame career, but at this point he is a Reggie Theus kinda of player. Good stats, but nothing acompolished.

Winning will help his cause greatly.

So he is currrently not HOF material.

Winning goes a long way in the NBA and any any sport. If you don't win and your not a bigtime dominant player like Ewing, Barkley, Malone or Stockton then your not going to get in. At this time I would say Steph is NOT HOF material. Winning could change that some.

Because Marbury's in the *middle* of his career. There are so many players who by age 28 didn't look like hall-of-famers but by 35 did.

Is Dwight Howard a hall-of-famer right now? (You get the point?)

Marbury has a shot at the hall of fame--- the 20ppg/8+rpg career numbers are nothing to sneeze at... he just needs to get deep in the playoffs often for several years. An olympic gold, a finals appearance and a championship would seal the deal.

He hasn't revolutionized the game, but his numbers are solid.

Anyway... I don't think there's an NBA hall of fame, merely a basketball hall of fame.

Yeah, a more interesting thread IMO might be "does Marbury have a shot at the hall-of-fame" or "What does Marbury have to do to become a hall-of-famer by the time he retires?"

Howard is 20, Marbury is almost 29.

he doesn't have a saint's chance in hell.

if dominique and b. king can't get inducted their first try....I can't WAIT to see what happens when Marbury's eligible.

NOT EVEN A CONSIDERATION
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Yeah, HOF's should be 1st or 2nd team all-nba players at least some time during their careers--Marbury will never be that, their are so many guards now who are playing better basketball even in the east--Arenas, Kidd, Iverson, Billups, Wade...
