If you needed a 2 who could play some 3 for the next 2 to 3 seasons - contracts aside who would you rather have?

Finley's a better player, but he comes w/bigger injury concerns...Q is also younger & a better post up player...Finley plays better D & is a clutch shotmaker...w/o salaries being considered, i'd take the chance on Finley if i wanted to win games.

I don't see Finley holding up physically.

I agree and thats why I think Isiah didn't look ahead to Amnesty cuts when he made the deal. Although its tough to fault that trade with Nate the Great looking so good, but you would think we could have dealt Kurt to get a pick and someone else, then get Finley for expiring contracts (The Mavs admittedly would have taken anything from and Eastern Conference team). We're in salary cap hell for the next 3 seasons anyway and Finley's is only a few mill more than Q's...

Q, Finley is done. He is good for a good game once every 6 games. He had 1 good playoff game. Hes done. I'd rather have stackhouse over Finley.

Q by a landslide. Finley from a few years ago was better but not at his age now.

this is kind of a strange question because it's not a scenario that couldve happened.

Listen Mike Finley's worst year is better than ANY year Q has been in the league and he was one of only a few Mavs player who could play D. Mike Finley was a max player for a reason.

Even in Finleys worst year last year he scored 16 pts 4 reb 3 assists shooting nearly 43% ----It trumps any year Q has been in this league.

Q has skills, no doubt about it, hes got a good body--has he been a really good nba player yet? No.
Out of all the players we have brought in, I fear that Big Game and Q could be Brown misfits right away.

Hard to agree with you since 2 years ago Q averaged 17 points, 6 boards, 2 assist, 1 steal, shot 40% from the field, 35% from 3-point and 74% from the line.

How is that not better than Finley last year?

he's got a point briggs. And finley was a shell of his former self 2 years ago, Q is just starting out...last year, his job was to stand beyond the arc and shoot when you get it.
He's got a lotta mo' to his game baby...I'm salivating.

depends on the team. Like Briggs said Finley was and is better. Is his body wearing down or has he just gotten nicked up?

I'm happy we have Q, but if getting wins over the next couple years was all we cared about Finley is a no brainer. Pretty sure Larry Brown would agree.

its a Knick forum... dont be stupid. Go post this on the Mavs forum and I'm guessing you might see different results.

Ask it on a non NY Knicks fan site and it's probably 17-3 the other way. There are no dumb questions, just dumb homer remarks based on nothing more than whose uniform a player is wearing.

we're not winning anything with Finley. We've got to build a team that will win 3yrs from now. We have to start by getting rid of dead weight and going after championship calibur players

Even responding to the right now question, i just don't see Finley cutting it amymore for more than short stretches of games.

i loved the guy in his prime - how could you not? Of course he was much more than Q.

But you didn't watch him in the playoffs and think, It's happened, he's unable to be Mike Finley anymore?

sorry, shooting 39.8% isnt going to cut it at SG in the NBA. 3% is a LOT. 3% is the difference between winning and losing games. its not an allen iversen or jason kidd 39.8% its basically a shooter who isnt shooting with good accuracy. at 42.7% the only difference is FGAs. Q-rich has a LOT to proove.

if you make a blind statement, atleast take the time to look at the facts.

Mike Finley 18.6 pts 4.5 reb 3a shooting 44.4%

again, Q rich is the player who has a lot to proove, lets see if he even plays 20 minutes a game.

Are you kidding me with this!!!! Last year, when Jason Richardson and Quentin Richardson both got re-upped, we were having a serious discussion about which of the two we would like to have. And a good few people were saying Q. Now all of a sudden, Q's our player, we're comparing him to an over-the-hill 33 year old SG, like we're sorry to have him. And it's being a homer to prefer Q to Finley!!!!!! Give me a break with this BS. I would take Q any day of the year. Ridiculous. Why does the grass always have to be greener!!! Be happy with what we have!

Your theory only counts if that same tream is poor defensivley. There were times when the Pistons missed almost everything they put up for an entire quarter just to come back and also shut down the team they're playing against.

thanks firefly...I'm a little flabbergassed by briggs jocking Finley over Q...not suprised at Islesfan though...he's looking for my name and posting rebuttle just for the goof.

Finley WAS good. Q IS Good.

While I loved Finley, Q is by far superior in all aspects...when his job is to chuck from the perimeter, I'm sure his shooting percentages would be down, but in terms of all around game, current, last year AND two years ago, it isn't even close.
