DISREGARDING the luxury tax. That means not worrying about James Dolan's money, or how it could be better spend. Simply, cut Houston, or can he be useful?

I vote (C). Who gives a crap? Either way it will not
affect the team's success. Either he'll be cut, or
he'll spend the year rehabbing. Who cares?!

I voted to get rid of him, since he already has dreams of playing for the Nets or Miami. I think he stole enough of Dolan's money. Too bad he wasn't that eager to play for the Knicks. Some Captain.

You should have included that his *** gets taken to the People's Court or something.

Cut and pasted from a previous posting of mine:

It seems to me that the Allan Houston rule should be used on Penny Hardaway anyways. Even if we use this rule to cut Houston, it still counts against the cap for ALL the years left on his contract. So it really doesnt help the team any, since Dolans got money to burn. Hardaway on the other hand has a bad attitude and i dont need him showcasing that kinda work ethic around our young team! Cut Penny

It's time to move on. Isiah has 12 days to make the decision.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

ha. When i saw this poll I thought you mean cut or keep me....again.

lol.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

On those knees, now he's a sh!tshooter killing our cap, making like $20M per to rock Armani suits on the bench. We need players wearing Knicks unis on the court. 70 games in 2 years? Dolan should deduct the price of the friggin' front row seat from his checks.

I gave him his shot last season and he blew it. I've been wanting him gone for a few years now, but I was willing to give him a chance with the new lineup last season. What ended up happening? More Armani fashion shows on the sideline, while we catch losses.

Nope. It's time. Allan "Gotta go, gotta go!!"

Everyone thinks it might be Allan getting cut under the new "Amnesty Act" but watch Isiah throw a curveball and cut Penny instead.. Wow, that would be something..

Possibly showing a bit of loyalty and respect to Allan.. You never know..

You know, if Dolan can afford to pay the extra 40 million, I dont see why not. Maybe Dolan should make an agreement with Houston. If he cant contribute, retire. If you can than we'll keep you. If by 20 games in, it is a lost cause, retire and dont collect on the last year of your contract or something like that.

I mean if Dolan can afford to throw away 40 million, if its even an OPTION, than who cares about the salary cap or what taxes the Knicks have to pay. Thats their problem, doesnt affect us in any way, it still will count against the salary cap.

I say cut Shandons contract with the Amnesty.

He should retire, and then it should be used on Rose's contract.

I wouldn't like to see Allan go out that way, and Im sure this is giving Isiah a hard time because of the same reason. I'd like to have Allan around, let him recover to at least give us a great shooter for last minute shots. Yeah his contract was a terrible mistake, but that was Dolan's doing. I know 40 millions off the tax is a lot, and thats what will probably happen, but at the same time I'd like to keep him and waive someone else. Mo T comes to my mind, but Isiah got him so he won't do that.

If Houston is really shot, he should retire and save everyone the problem. If he can give a NBA team something significant, why not keep him?Dolan made the mistake, let Dolan pay for it...

I feel Allan has been gone from this team ever since his Surgery...
He will never return to this team and be the old Allan...
So I think the real question should not be about his contribution to the team as a player... but as a contract...

The real question ladies and gentleman...
Do we want a 20 Million Dollar expiring contract next offseason... or not...

That's all he's worth to this team at this point...
It would be folly to let him go for nothing when we're only a year away from his real trade potential...

Good post, Vec. Judging from the poll, the opinions on the answer to that question are about 50/50 (and is literally that right now) among us fans. We'll all find out soon- thanks to the deadline being pushed to 8/15.

I figured this would be an easy one... another cliffhanger...

can some answer me this...
i know you can't cut a player and then resign him yourself, BUT can a team trade w/another team player for player, both teams cut those players and then the original team resign that player?
example: we trade for finley or someone who's salary matches, we cut finley, dallas cuts houston, we resign houston for the minimum. solely out of respect for houston. or maybe another team can consider it. i think it's posible considering were not the team that 'technicaly' cut that player. that a little loophole, or just wishfull thinking?

I can see that loophole working, but... is there a time limit as to how long after a player was traded can the amnesty rule be used on him?

Hmmm...
