building since when? It depends on when the starting period is. If it was last summer, then no one has done a worse job since the Lakers traded Shaq for Lamar and Caron. If it's this summer, then they're slightly ahead of the Knicks. I wanted Bynum over Frye and Kwame's a very good addition.

Building since as of this summer. I think it's a tie as of right now. I think we gain the advantage witht the draft choices, but Kwame has more potential than Jerome James obviously. I think LA's giving up a bit too much for him, but with their roster as it is right now, I'd say they're still solid, especially with the signing of Phil Jackson (whereas we're still banking on Larry) I think both teams are also 1 move away from being true contenders in their respective conference. We both need a legit Big Man, whether that's a PF or C, I don't know.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure.
And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

You also have to mention that the Knicks gave up KT. He was a big part of our team last year, and I think that will set us back for a while, but I still think we'll be ok in the long run. It will be curious to look back at the comparative results of these two teams' summers 3 years from now.

If Bynum pans out and turns into a great center and Kwame becomes a star too - then the Lakers will have another dynasty on their hands. However if both players are busts - then the Lakers will be stuck just like the Knicks have been for the past few seasons.
Either way the odds are against them that both will be great players but I think it was a solid gamble by their GM and I give him credit for rolling the dice like that.
