I voted Keep him no matter what but thats not how I feel. We should keep him unless an offer we can't refuse comes around. NONE of the deals I have read anywhere are deals I would do for Marbury. None of them.

Its stupid to trade your best player for the hopes of being far enough under the cap to get Lebron in 2 years. Thats just dumb.

Brand? No. A deal involving a top 4 PG and a top 10 PF is a deal that the CLIPPERS can't refuse. KG or Lebron? It won't happen this summer, but sure that qualifies.

I also voted to keep Steph no matter what. If Lebron and Isiah have a talk where Isiah finds out that Lebron will sign with the Knicks in his free-agency if the Knicks are far enough under the cap then fine I'd say Isiah can trade Steph, that would also be against league rules but whatever. I agree alot with what Killa said, why trade our best player in hopes that we can sign a player that can get much more money by resigning with his hometown franchise.

I was being sarcastic. We're not getting KG, Lebron, Brand, Pierce, Odom or Artest for Marbury and his HUGE contract. but we could lose some games this year and next win the lottery and land the superstar like Rudy Gay for example and have the cap room to go after one of those guys. But in reality trading for Marbury will strapped us til 2009. Can't do much to improve the team other than add guys like Walker, hunter, jerome james etc

if not Lebron then someone else like like Bosh or Dirk or who knows who will be an elite player by 2008! every year there are elite free agents to be had! we never have the cap room to go get them!

Okay, who was their best player that they traded away to get Shaq?

Shaq forced himself into LA, thats a whole different story.

In 3 years, I don't think we're going to want anything to do with Dirk, he's going to be 30 and looking for a huge contract and probably will be in the process of losing a step in that stage of his career.

Bosh on the other hand, would be a nice addition, but I don't think one worth the Knicks trading away their best player right now in hopes that 3 years that he is available.

For Bosh? WHo may be something in 3 years? I wouldn't trade Dirk for Marbury right now! much less in 3 years. Did anybody watch the playoffs this year? He played weak throughout and had a decent game like twice. He is not a franchise player, he is on a team with alot of talent and they should have beaten the suns. Dirk needed Nash, hes a much different player without him. He was his teams high scorer twice or something like that.

how about Miami having the cap room and draft to get Odom & Butler and then ship them to LA for Shaq? or phoenix with nash or detroit with rasheed or houston with mcgrady

who knows who else we might be able to get in 2008. every year there are big free agent acquistions. even more important is loading up on talent with high draft picks.

First of all you need to learn how to quote.

Second, Miami didn't have cap room, shaq demanded a trade there and they offered their best package. They traded their best players for the best player in the game. What people are proposeing is trading your best player for cap space and garbage so that maybe you can sign the best player in the game (LBJ), or another really good player. It doesn't make any sense to me. If you are gonna trade a top 20 player, you should have a damn good tangible reason, not a dollar and a dream.

unless you're getting young talented players or potentially good picks, dumping Marbury for cap room is kinda dumb.

I'm all for looking to be in a position to try to get Lebron, but in the mean time, you've got to try to build towards being a good team.

Houston traded a marquee player (Steve Francis) who right now is in the same boat as Stephon Marbury to get T-Mac. Miami was very fortunate in their ability to get Shaq because that was the team that had the best offer to where Shaq WANTED to go, they were at his mercy, theres a big difference.

re-read what I said. Miami signed odom because they had the cap space then they traded odom to the lakers for shaq. I think the lakers rather have odom and his reasonable 11mil per contract than marbury and his $22mil

thats true but how did Houston draft francis and Yao? by sucking for a few years rather than being a 40win/1st round exit team.

That is another huge factor in trading Marbury. Bogut would've been a lot nicer to have as our franchise Center than Frye
