The Miami Dolphins signed free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr., on Friday, adding the veteran to the roster and as a depth piece behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. The team hosted Beckham on a free agent visit last month, with the two sides remaining in contact since then.

The signing was first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who indicated it is a one year, $8.25 million contract. The news came shortly after the Buffalo Bills announced the signing of former Dolphins wide receiver Chase Claypool. Both sides seem to have compromised on this deal, with the Dolphins adding more salary than their original offers while Beckham came down some in his demands.

The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson adds the Dolphins remained steadfast on the $3 million salary they offered Beckham initially, but they agreed to add over $5 million in potential bonuses to bridge the gap to the receiver’s wishes

Beckham was the 12th overall pick by the New York Giants in 2014 out of LSU. He spent the 2014 through 2018 seasons with the Giants before moving to the Cleveland Browns in 2019. He was released by Cleveland during the season in 2021, signing with the Los Angeles Rams to finish the year, then returning with them for the 2022 season. Beckham joined the Baltimore Ravens last year on a reported one-year deal, but the contract included void years to spread his salary cap hit over the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons.

Last season, he caught 35 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games with the Ravens. In his career, Beckham has caught 566 passes for 7,932 yards with 59 touchdowns. He has played in 110 games, starting 97 of them.
