Knicks Bulletin: “It’s all destiny, man. All destiny.”

The Knicks took to the mics to celebrate a Game 2 win over a hapless Sixers team whose future is ominous.

The Knicks swept the Sixers on their initial two-game homestand of the first-round series between the No. 2 and the No. 7 seeds out East.

New York and MSG went radio silent for a minute, but that was only to build some tension before the grand finale the Knicks had in store and cooking in the oven, as much as Joel Embiid and Nick Nurse loathed the outcome.

Here is what some Knickerbockers had to say after the affair that saw NYK go up two entering Game 3.

Tom Thibodeau

On the Knicks’ miracle win in Game 2...

“There’s been some pretty wild finishes but that was right up there with the best of them. That just shows you what the playoffs are all about. And oftentimes, it’s a hustle play here, a hustle play there, just find a way to win.”

”Tonight we made some big shots, big hustle plays, getting on the floor, coming up with a steal, coming up with a block, made free throws. We did it all. I never think the games are over. “

“It shows you, you can make up ground very quickly. A 3 goes in, you get a steal, you get another 3, they miss a couple—and next thing you know, the game changes. And that’s how quick it can change. And you need good fortune. Sometimes the ball bounces your way, and we had a couple that bounced around the rim and went in so that’s part of it, too.”

On not being named among the top-3 Coach of the Year candidates...

“No reaction. I couldn’t care less about that.”

On Donte DiVincenzo leveling up in Game 2 after a subpar Game 1 performance in which he gave way to Deuce McBride...

“The thing is he’s a great teammate. And that’s what all these guys are. So everyone wants to play, everyone wants to get their minutes and finish, but you’d have to sacrifice and put the team first, so some nights it’s somebody else. “Whatever gives us the best chance to win is what we want everybody involved with.”

On Bojan Bogdanovic finding his groove at the right time...

“We had a lot of contributions from different people. I thought Bogey came in, hit some big shots to start the fourth.”

On Josh Hart’s contributions...

“He gives the team toughness, real toughness. That’s a big part of the fabric of this team.”

Josh Hart

On the Knicks not giving up on Monday or any time soon...

“It was crazy, it was hectic, but at that point, we had nothing to lose. Got to get as physical as we can and it panned out.”

On what makes Tom Thibodeau unique...

“The funniest thing about Thibs: He’ll be calm. He’ll say something and he’ll make himself mad. So he’ll be like, ‘Chicago, we got outrebounded — AND WE’RE F—ING P—— BECAUSE WE GOT OUTREBOUNDED!’ But it’s funny because he makes himself (mad). That’s the funniest thing when he starts calm.”

On the Knicks players and Thibs making for the perfect marriage...

“I think part of it is just like how we are, the character of the team. We all play extremely hard, but we’re all goofy and clowns also. So it’s like, we play extremely hard but when that stuff happens, it’s funny.”

“I will look at Donte or Precious or Jalen and they’re like — it’s just one of those things like, we get it and we’re gonna do it, but it’s just funny.”

Isaiah Hartenstein

On fighting Philly till the final buzzer on Monday...

“We don’t give up. There’s a lot of teams that might give up in that situation but we don’t. It starts with [Thibodeau], who won’t let us, but the whole team buys in.”

”We had a belief we could come back. And we did.”

On Thibs getting snubbed from the shortlist of COTY finalists...

“I don’t think if there’s really any coaches in the league that defensively game plan, be prepared for whoever comes (like Thibodeau does).”

”I’ve been with a lot of coaches and me going into every game, I think I’m the best prepared, just knowing what the other guys are doing. I think that’s kinda what makes him special.”

“You come in the facility, no matter what time of day, he’s gonna be in there.”

On Thibs’ method and how it eases the transition from the regular season to the playoffs...

“You kinda prepare (in the regular season) like it’s already the playoffs. If you watch the playoffs, guys are very keyed in on what everyone does. So we’ll have a shootaround. We’ll go through what they run, what we wanna take away. (It’s) just him being prepared and then when the playoffs come, it’s so much easier to transition into being in the playoffs because the whole season that’s how we were kinda preparing for each team.”

On the casuals who think Thibs is a player-murdering coach...

“This notion that he runs us into the ground at practice, that’s bull—-. Thibs is an amazing leader and he’s done an amazing job this year. I can’t say enough about what he’s helped me accomplish individually, but also look at what he’s done. We’re on the verge of possibly having 50 wins and two of our top three guys have been out for most of the year.”

Jalen Brunson

On Tom Thibodeau, who he has known since he was a kid while the coach was with the Bulls...

“He’s still the same guy. He made jokes. But when it comes to basketball, he’s all in. He’s locked in. He always told me to keep working hard, all the stuff that he says. And as I got older, as I got better, he would say more things that would be involved with actual basketball concepts and stuff. But when I say he’s the same, he’s the exact same.”

Donte DiVincenzo

On giving up an eight-point lead late in the game...

“I mean, it wasn’t a good feeling. That’s not a good feeling to lose that lead. The next day it’s going to sting a little bit more.”

On pulling off the victory in the final seconds of Game 2...

“It was huge, it was loud as hell in there.”

On the game-winning sequence...

“Honestly, after I missed the first one I was really, really, really hoping that Isaiah got [the rebound] because I knew the rotation of everything I was going to get a second look. Thank God he got the offensive rebound.”

On the League not having any New York Knicks player in the run for a regular-season award...

“We’re not worried about that. I think collectively we know our goal and what we want to accomplish. We don’t need individual accolades because when we are all tied together and have one goal, everybody is going to play well.”

Miles McBride

On every Knicks being as capable of winning a game for New York as the one next to him...

“You never know whose night it going to be with this team.”

Nick Nurse (Philadelphia 76ers Head Coach)

On failing to call a timeout when is team dearly needed a break...

“We take a look at getting it in quick. We don’t get it in quick. I call timeout. Referee looked right at me. Ignored me. Went into Tyrese [Maxey]. I called timeout again, and then the melee started. Yeah, I mean, I guess I gotta run out onto the floor or do something to make sure and get his attention. Needed a timeout there to advance it. Would’ve been good. But couldn’t get it.”

On not knowing how to stop a baseball game...

“I just watched the film just to make sure. I’m clearly calling timeout. I didn’t see if he looked at me in the film, but I could see me clearly calling timeout twice.”

On the Knicks bagging buckets leading to their 2-0 series lead...

“That was like a little bit of the difference of the game again. They kinda just keep bringing all these guys in that can shoot the 3, and they’re just firing them like they’re not even really that open sometimes. And they’re making them … and I think that stretch of the game, again, it was kinda the same as the other night. They made a couple in a row. We missed a couple in a row. And all of a sudden, that’s a 7-point game. … They got a lot of shooting. They keep bringing them in.”

Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers Player)

On dreams and nightmares...

“We’re gonna win this series. We’re gonna win this. We know what we’ve got to fix. We did a better job today, so we’re gonna fix it. We’re the better team and we’re gonna keep fighting.”

Clyde Frazier

On New. York. Knicks. Basketball...

“Reggie Miller Moment. It’s all destiny, man. All destiny.”
