I want to pay homage to the #CultureNets today, so allow me to half-bake this game recap.

I find this New Yorker cover hella funny. Four of the five players depicted in it, one Knick, and three Nets, aren’t in those teams anymore. The fifth, Julius Randle, hasn’t played for nearly three months and won’t do so until next October.

The cover, just in case, is from May 10, 2021. For those keeping track at home, that’s not even three years ago.

The Nets sold the house, the gym, the garage, and their mother to get a glimpse of a golden future that ended with a toe on the line and not even a minimal amount of success. At least the whole thing yielded Ben Simmons.

Randle is the unluckiest man on Earth. RJ Barrett was sent packing north of the border in exchange for OG Anunoby.

The Knicks reached the second round of the playoffs last season. The Nets did not.

I just realized I forgot to mention the Knicks can still finish in second position because Milly and Orlando play each other on Sunday, the season finale, first-round homecourt advantage on the line for the Magicians if they get the dub.
