The date and time has been set for the first ever Detroit Lions playoff game at Ford Field. They will host the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, January 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
It will be the first home playoff game in Detroit since 1994, as the 12-5 Lions take on the 10-7 Rams. Los Angeles has won seven of their last eight games, while the Lions are 5-3 in their last eight.
Of course, the main storyline for the game will be the quarterbacks. In January 2021—three years ago—the Lions sent Matthew Stafford to Los Angeles for Jared Goff and a heap of draft picks in return. Stafford has since won a Super Bowl, while the Lions have used that draft capital to rebuild their team to where they are today. This will notably be Stafford’s first game in Detroit since that trade. Although the two teams faced off in 2021, with the Rams winning that game 28-19 in Los Angeles.
