‘Sunday Night Football’ open thread: Ravens at Jaguars

Two top AFC teams clash on Sunday night with playoff implications.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Baltimore Ravens Jessica Rapfogel-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars face off in a “Sunday Night Football” game with serious playoff implications.

The Ravens hold the crown atop the AFC at 10-3, but just barely. With the Miami Dolphins winning on Sunday, the Ravens will need a win to maintain their lead. A loss could throw a wrench in their AFC North aspirations as well, with the Cleveland Browns sitting at a surprising 9-5. The Ravens got a miracle walk-off punt return against the Los Angeles Rams last week, but they are hoping for a less stressful outing tonight.

That might be easier said than done, however. The Jacksonville Jaguars are also threatening in the AFC with an 8-5 record. So, tonight’s affair could be their last shot at the top seed in the conference. It has not been a great string of games for Jacksonville, losing two straight games in close fashion. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans each sit at 8-6 in the AFC South. Losing to the Ravens could not only mean sliding down the division but potentially out of a playoff spot as well. A lot is at stake for the Jaguars tonight.

Can the Ravens maintain their lead in the AFC, or will the Jaguars gain some much-needed ground in their own playoff race?

Here’s how to watch tonight’s game:

Date: Sunday, December 17, 2023
Time: 8:20 p.m. ET
Location: Everbank Stadium—Jacksonville, FLA
TV: NBC
Announcers: Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, Melissa Stark
Online: NBCSports.com
