Mike Breen delivers epic call as Knicks pull off Game 2 stunner over 76ers

It was a shot so clutch that Knicks broadcaster Mike Breen had to break out the double “bang.”

The signature call came as the Knicks pulled off a stunning 104-101 win over the 76ers in Game 2 that sent a delirious Knicks fan base spilling into the streets in jubilation as the Knicks took a 2-0 series lead at the Garden on Monday.

“Maxey gets nicked down. Hart takes it away. Out to DiVincenzo, his shot won’t go,” Breen said on the MSG broadcast as he called the chaotic play. “Hartenstein the rebound. Hartenstein gets it out to Anunoby. DiVincenzo a three. Bang! Bang! Knicks take a one-point lead with 13 seconds remaining!”

The Knicks managed to complete the win putting up another basket to seal the second game of the best-of-seven series.

The call is sure to go into the broadcaster’s archives as one of his top calls over a career that has resulted in quite a few.

Breen is the voice of not only the Knicks but also the NBA, and his signature phrase, “bang,” has become known to basketball fans all over the country.

It’s the second time in the series that Breen has had a highlight reel call on the broadcast.

During Game 1, the call of a clutch 3-pointer by Josh Hart provided Breen the chance to showcase his broadcasting chops on the playoff stage.

“Shot clock at 4, and Hart fakes,” Breen relayed to the viewers. “Hart tries another 3-pointer, uh-oh it’s good! Knocks down another!”

Monday’s win gives the Knicks their first 2-0 series lead since 2013 against the Celtics.

The late-game sequence did not sit well with the 76ers, who are planning to file a grievance with the NBA over the officiating in Games 1 and 2.

Game 3 is slated to take place in Philadelphia on Thursday night.
