Knicks’ Josh Hart makes comically bad pass into stands, jokes he can play in NFL

The best quarterback in New York may be playing for the Knicks.

Guard Josh Hart fired an errant pass in Wednesday night’s 116-100 win over the Bulls that sailed several rows deep into the stands — and looked more like a throw suited for the gridiron than the hardwood.

With the Knicks leading 21-13 in the first quarter, Hart, 28, brought the ball up the floor before chucking his pass over Donte DiVincenzo’s head by several feet, eliciting a groan from the Madison Square Garden crowd.

“My goodness, that might be the deepest I’ve ever seen a pass thrown in an NBA game,” ESPN announcer Ryan Ruocco said as the play unfolded. “That must have been nine rows back.”

“For a second, I thought you might say that might be the worst pass I’ve ever seen thrown in an NBA game,” analyst and former NBA player JJ Reddick, who was teammates with Hart in New Orleans, said in response to Ruocco.

Hart, who was seen smiling after the play, poked fun at himself after the game by sharing a meme on X of himself on a football field, also tagging his hometown Washington Commanders.

“Yo @Commanders holla at me,” he wrote.

Some social media users also had a field day over Hart’s blunder.

“Josh Hart throws a pass to someone on 8th Avenue,” @NBA_NewYork said in a post.

Another user thought Hart may have intended the pass for a different target.

“Josh Hart with a perfect pass to the Statue of Liberty,” @NBAMemes tweeted.

Despite Hart’s blooper, the Knicks managed to defeat the Bulls behind strong performances from Julius Randle (35 points, six rebounds), Jalen Brunson (31 points, 13 assists) and Isaiah Hartenstein (10 points, 20 rebounds).

Hart finished the game with three points, three assists and five rebounds in 25 minutes.
