Knicks Inquired About Trade for Bulls Star Zach LaVine, per Report

The Knicks reportedly inquired about Bulls guard Zach LaVine, but the asking price for the 28-year-old was “giant,” per The Athletic’s Fred Katz.

“Other All-Stars have trickled in and out of the rumor mill over the years, including this summer,” Katz wrote. “New York made contact with the Chicago Bulls about their shooting guard, Zach LaVine, but the asking price for the two-time All-Star was ‘giant,’ as one league source told The Athletic, which is exactly why LaVine remains in Chicago. The Knicks and Bulls, according to league sources, never got close.”

As Katz stated, the two sides never got close, but it is worth noting that the front office reached out with interest. If Chicago opts to pursue a trade that moves LaVine out of town in the future, there’s at least a chance the asking price could come down some, and if so, New York may move back into the conversation.

A two-time All-Star and an All-Rookie selection in the 2014–15 season, LaVine averaged 24.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists last season in 77 starts. He is entering his seventh season in Chicago.
