I care more about the roster changes than the coaching hire.

My only request of this hire is that they bring top level assistants with them.

FROM SHAMS:

Mike Brown will have a second meeting with the New York Knicks for their head coaching job and has emerged as a strong candidate, sources tell ESPN.

Brown has been fired ALOT. What’s that all about

If Dawn Staley agreed to coach the Knicks, would Mike Brown agree to be the associate head coach? That’s pretty much the coaching staff I’d expect if LeBron pushed to retire in NY. A weird conspiracy combo. I don’t think the Knicks can aggregate players for him. It would have to be for KAT, right? Not sure i make those moves, but it would be interesting, especially if the Knicks are able to add Clarkson and Dayton on vet min deals to drop salary and fill in blanks. It’d be an interesting starphuch situation.

Staley didnt agree to interview from what I can tell

Brown has the worst rep with a coach with a .600 win pct that I have seen. I think he did a really good job i. Sacramento. Cant blame him for their front office trying to become the Bulls.

This is the same guy who was cheerleading Zach f cking Wilson for years and thinks it’s ok that Woody Johnson hired a head coach before the GM.

Zach Wilson is personal with you?

Kings got impatient. Pacers had a similar bad start. Imagine they fired Carlisle?

Might want to look at Brown's teams and how it changed under him.
Then his years as an assistant.

As for Dolan, yes that petulant little man is still in there but has has behaved over the years. He Whilel he starphuched with Phil there was some substance given Phil's cred, but he did stop him from trading KP before he got hurt. Knicks stopped trading out picks under Phil was a plus. He owed Mills an opportunity and at least had the good sense to fire him before he too started trading picks to keep his job. He hired Leon!!!!
Not sure what occurred but I'd guess Leon and Dolan on the same page about Thibs. Thats all I care about.
I expect Knicks to push the chips all in on this upcoming season. I don't know how they will do it.

Kinda figured the Knicks were looking for more than just 1 coach, gotta fill out the bench too

Or Staley might be a consideration as an asst.. I do like the idea of Brown/Borrego. I think the recent picks would benefit from this teamup.

James Borrego is currently employed by the Pelicans and under contract, so there would be hurdles to adding him to a potential Mike Brown coaching staff. Also, Knicks like Borrego and he’s still viewed as head coaching candidate at this point in process. Same goes for MIN assistant Micah Nori. But Mike Brown does see Borrego as an important addition on his staff if Knicks deal goes through, as @TheSteinLine noted. Borrego’s viewed across the league as a coach with strong offensive sets/creativity and one who places an emphasis on ball movement, spacing, player movement. All three coaches mentioned above have had first interviews with Knicks. Taylor Jenkins has as well. I mentioned Borrego and Nori specifically because they are the two assistant coaches who have interviewed. Didn’t mean to imply that Jenkins is not a candidate. I don’t know if he is or isn’t. Knicks are signaling that they could bring other coaches they’ve interviewed back for second round of interviews. Mike Brown’s second interview is today.

I think Brown with someone like Borrego is a good idea.

Brown has all the experience and Borrego, upon a lot of research, got his Charlotte teams to be a really good offensive team.

There is no salary cap for coaches, so we have to hope that Dolan is willing top open the checkbook to pry away from NO and entice Borrego to sign on as an assistant coach. Offering to make him the highest paid assistant in the league might do it,if there are no HC offers.

Best path towards getting another Head Coaching job is by being a top assistant on a winning/championship level team. Getting plucked from a bad team doesn't usually happen. Borrego may see this as an opportunity to further his career.

Brown wouldn’t be a terrible hire but I prefer Malone.

Mike Brown analysis:

“Lack of Innovation:
Some analysts have noted that Brown's offensive philosophy can be predictable and doesn't maximize the potential of his players.
Struggles with Adjustments:
There are claims that Brown doesn't adjust his offensive schemes effectively during games, particularly when facing defensive pressure or when his team is struggling.
Reliance on Stars:
Some argue that Brown tends to rely too heavily on star players, potentially hindering the development and contributions of other players.
Rotational Issues:
Inconsistent Lineups:
Brown has been criticized for inconsistent rotations and for not playing certain players in key moments, even when they are playing well.
Bench Utilization:
Some believe that Brown doesn't effectively utilize his bench players, which can lead to players being overused and potentially burned out.
In-Game Management:
Slow to Adjust:
There are concerns that Brown is slow to make in-game adjustments, allowing runs by the opposing team to continue for too long before calling timeouts or changing strategies.
Defensive Scheme Concerns:
Some analysts have criticized the defensive schemes implemented by Brown, specifically the constant use of double teams and blitzes, which can leave opponents open for three-pointers.
Questionable Player Selection:
Some have questioned Brown's decisions regarding which players to play in certain situations, particularly in late-game situations.
Overall:
Roster Construction:
While Brown's coaching is a factor, some analysts point to the roster construction as a significant issue, arguing that the Kings lack depth and specific types of players, such as three-point shooters and versatile forwards.
Leadership:
There are also questions about Brown's leadership, with some suggesting that he may not be able to inspire his players or create a strong team chemistry.”

Sounds like he is the antithesis of Thibs!
