Fever don't wanna a Dewanna Bonner and she was made a goner.
She is not marrying Grady Dick contrary to the rumor she was and hyphenate their names......

Bonner scammed this trash front office. We wasted a max slot on her just to leave after 9 games. This has legit been one of the worst offseasons I can remember. Not a single signing worked out. The good news out of this Bonner thing is she had a non-guaranteed contract. We already signed Aari with some of the capspace we now have. She will help us. Now we need to sign a big after Eurobasket. The best one is Emma Meesseman. If we can sign her we might be able to salvage this season. I almost forgot to tell yall this front office is so poverty they don't have any euro scouts. It's why we signed a bunch of old past their prime vets while other teams signed euro players and are thriving. I now know why the Fever been one of the worst ran franchises before they drafted Caitlin.

If our front office was not bottom of the barrel they would cut Syd and Bri Turner. A lot of really good players will be getting waived after eurobasket. Knowing how bad our front office is and listening to them speak they will not do it and will continue to roster trash vets who don't help us at all. Bri Turner is legit one of the worst players in the league and we lose every time she touches the court. Yet the coach and front office talks about her like she is an amazing player. She got no time on one of the worst team last season. This is how things went back in the old WNBA days. While other teams are past that our team is run by people who still do it. No wonder why we suck.

From the Times..

NEW YORK — The WNBA has granted expansion teams to Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia, growing to a league-record 18 franchises. Cleveland will begin play in 2028, Detroit in 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert has expressed for more than a year a desire to expand the league to at least 16 teams, saying there are “10 to 12 cities that are very viable.” The Golden State Valkyries began their inaugural season this year, and Toronto and Portland are launching teams in 2026. The league previously peaked in 2002 at 16 teams, including former franchises in Detroit and Cleveland.

“This historic expansion is a powerful reflection of our league’s extraordinary momentum, the depth of talent across the game, and the surging demand for investment in women’s professional basketball,” Engelbert said in a statement Monday.

A league source told The Athletic that the teams paid a historic $250 million in expansion fees. The expansion decisions are subject to WNBA and NBA Boards of Governors approval.

I am in my 40s and this is the first time a team I really cared about actually won a championship of any kind. I will forever remember this. I have never and will never bandwagon. The Liberty won the WNBA championship last season and they was my casual fan watch team until I started really becoming a fan because of Caitlin. I never for a second even thought of claiming that Liberty win. I stay true to my teams no matter how bad they are and I finally won something.

Sounds like he had a great time. I don't blame him for trying number 3. Bonner scamming us might be what turns this season around. The player that we signed to replace her is a perfect fit. Aari came in an instantly started balling for us.

You know Caitlin was happy she got that tech because that is how teams defend her the whole game and she barely gets foul calls. While other players like A'ja, Stewie and Sykes get multple 10 plus free throw games. A'jas whistle is so good she gets more free throws than the teams she plays against. Damn near half the points Skyes scores is from free throws the last time I checked.

Bonner acted like a diva in the few games she played and really was a no-show - VERY DISAPPOINTING from what I was hoping for.

Now glad she is gone and little point guard they picked up seems to have added some downhill attacking and scoring.

You may have spoke to soon on front office being trash as I expect the coach was driving some of the vet adds and ALL OF A SUDDEN with Caitlin on the bench the teams D has completely shut teams down the past 2 games.

Will say I've been mostly disappointed with Clark's game so far this year.

- I see zero defensive improvement and/or effort for her
- she turns the ball over far too much and often has blinders on for the pass to Boston off the high/screen role
- would like to see her off ball a bit more and actually cut rather than continue accepting the ball 35 feet out
- looks like she got stronger some in the legs this season and it's potentially why she's had some leg issues (sometimes when trying to get stronger you can overdue it and be susceptible to pulls/tweaks). I assume she's still lifting in season.

Overall Clark needs to keep getting stronger and keep pressuring the rim to get to the line and kick outs.

Would be nice if she could work on left hand enough where she could get all the way to the rim with it.

Never a good look when teams starts to play (Defend) better when the lead player is sitting.

Yep - agree on Bonner and Aari.

Asking for a friend -- can I maybe get Sophie's #?

You might be right on the front office. They are still not great because they are the ones who signed Bonner to the max when she did not fit the roster at all. However, they fixed that problem with replacing Bonner with Aari.

On the defense thing with Caitlin you can't go by it this year. She been injured the whole time. She missed time in the preseason with the quad injury and tried to play through it until she could not. Then when she came back from that she injured her Groin after one game. She played through it until we could sign Aari. The picture to the left is the game she went off against the Libs and the very next game her groin in wrapped up.

To be honest this been the season from hell. She been injured the whole time. Funny it would happen the one time she takes a break from basketball. It seems like her body does better playing basketball all year.

I don't worry about the turnover until she starts doing idiotic stuff like she did vs the Storm. However, she was injured in that game so was very limited. She had to play through it because until the 10 days period was over we would only be stuck with Syd as a PG and she is only good for 10 to 15 minutes max. How well can you expect someone to play injured while getting held and grabbed every possession without calls. Players that handle the ball a lot also get more turnovers. Like Luka led the league in turnovers when he was in the MVP conversation.

She got hit right in the face and the refs looked at it and said play on.

I do agree with you on the forcing the ball to AB stuff. She has to fix that. She could not do the off ball stuff because we did not have a PG on the team that could playmake. This is another bad thing the front office did. Aari fixed that problem so I can't wait until we see Caitlin off ball with Aari.

I agree with you and her stronger legs might be the cause of all her leg injuries this season and I agree with you on her pressuring the rim more. That is another thing Aari does. She is so small and fast she hits those gaps and goes right to the rim. I do have to remember Caitlin was injured so her driving to the rim ability might have been compromised.

Caitlin just dropped a hint that she is not feeling how the team is being ran. Until now she been saying she wants to finish her career as a Fever. She just changed it to a few more years.

i was right about the front office. They signed a bunch of players that don't fit their besat player. The coaches offense is dribble handoffs. Would we ever try to put Luka in a dribble handoff offense? I can't wait until she leaves the Fever. They are not a good front office.

I can never get away from coaches playing non-shooters. Natasha Howard is being treated like Josh Hart and its messing up the whole team again. It's not only her the front office signed a bunch of old non-shooters.

Really good info Clean.

- What I can't understand is wasn't Aari on Fever already and they cut her? How does she go from cut to back starting - which would make me wonder why cut in 1st place.

- I'd take Jaycee Sheldon on this team any day. Noticed her last year - always all over Caitlin like flies on rice - would also like M Mayberry (seems tough and doesn't give a ****)

- been a tad disappointed with Sophie's floor game -- rarely puts the ball down, doesn't create and needs open looks to get shot off (I'm less disappointed in her body guarding and game entrance outfits)

Not sure if it's the leg/groin/quad but coming into this year I expected Caitlin to just get by people to her strong hand but she has struggled most of season (maybe injuries or maybe needs better conditioning). I'm not positive but was her big scoring game this year against a good defensive team or a poor one?

Seems Howard is playing better - at least while Caitlin was out.

Bonner was a huge disappointment --- is she even playing now?

IMO - Christie Sides did a GREAT JOB with the Fever last year - was somewhat shocked when they fired her but then assumed that S White was a huge upgrade.

Not sure if Caitlin has some issues with her but honestly to my eyes Caitlin is primarily committing self inflicted TO's and poor shot selection (don't have a feel for how much White may have changed things).

I get the sense White may want MORE post feeding both to Boston/Howard and more distribution to Sophie/Lexi/Chelsey --- she may be putting some reins on Caitlin that she is fighting (no evidence of this - just a guess).

Sides took a piss poor roster - with 2 horrible PF's last year and no bench and she had Indy playing fast and winning games.

One thing of note - Fever's best 2 games on D this year were with Caitlin out (not sure if that was just match-ups or related to Caitlin at all but if TEAM senses she isn't defending enough could cause locker room issues. I do agree with you that earlier this year - she was being much more aggressive on D pre injuries.

She definitely looked completely washed earlier in the year and the vet PG they picked up in off season also looked WASHED - as did BONNER before quitting.

But on Howard -- last year Fever had 2 poor PFs (Smith & fagbenle) both also clogged the paint so not much different from Howard.

Howard picked up her game while Caitlin was out -- she looks OLD but she is working hard defensively and rebounding.

They need some buckets inside - can't be all deep 3's - need diversity but I'm not watching as closely if this is all impacting Caitlins game.

Until Caitlin diversifies her offensive game teams are going to really squeeze her.

- She only likes to shoot jump shot going left
- if pushed right she wants to get all the way to basket (no other options in her game in terms of pull up and her floater/banker game is weak still)
- she doesn't pass well going left and most all action to Boston is going to her right and passing to cutting Boston

So if you are a defense what do you do?

- You overplay her to push her to her right (takes away the jump shot).
- when she goes right you collapse the strong side wing defender and shrink the floor/space with your weak side defenders to clog up Boston cutting

So if Caitlin goes right she has multiple defenders squeezing off her drive at the lane/basket, the pass to Boston is in heavy traffic and Caitlin if she doesn't force the T.O. - has to kick ball out and or dribble back out and start again.

Teams are also double teaming the high screen and bringing 3rd defender over to guard dump off to Boston until help returns.

Now they are still scoring buckets and Caitlin is good enough to get points BUT it's mostly all in space before D is set or if they fall asleep.

The need to make the offense less predictable and need to have Caitlin attacking from other points on floor vs simply out high. Plus she needs to keep developing a shot to make them pay when forced to her right. Not going to be easy on that front. Could be that White is trying to instill some different options on offense and Caitlin isn't thrilled doing what she's always done.
