In typical Knicks fashion they got second rounders back

This is great trade for Detroit. They get two solid veterans for cheap on expiring deals. The vets can help their youth and the Pistons will have the option of trading Burks at the deadline for a pick.

As for us, we have all the cap space we need to sign Brunson and we did not have to give up much to do it.

It’s too much cap space for just Brunson. Might be a bit more to this.

This is the Randle.

Its a good trade for us and the Pistons. Detroit got two expirings which allows them to open up cap space next year and make a run at a top free agent. Two vets will help their youth as well.

For us, we can hold the Mavs over a barrel as we have all the leverage if we want to complete a sign and trade.

Doesn’t make sense to include Burks if they could just waive Gibson to get enough for that contract. And 110mm for Brunson is too much. I like him at 21mm per. More than that is a reach.

I think Detroit trades are clever because they basically take the only competitor off the table for a max offer sheet.

I dunno, might be overthinking this, but if I could have Miles Bridges at or near a max or Brunson at 27mm, I’m taking Bridges and daring Charlotte to match. Especially if I can make a move for Murray who is a better PG than Brunson.

This is the Randle.

Always liked Burks...He was miscast last season but he's been a solid player for us. Wonder if we are keeping Cam? This should open playing time for him.

Do you think Cam can step into bench/role. Alec, when Rose was out, was the one guy you could count on to create a shot from the wing during a broken play. Cam, with his size and athleticism, would seem like the perfect guy to plug into that role.

For sure...Moving Burks was a move I thought we would complete st last years trading deadline to get a long look at Cam for the 2nd half of the season. This move kind of forces Thibs hand...

Burks + Noel = 2 second round picks
Kember = 4 second round picks

$30M for 6 second round picks?

I hope the Knicks are smart enough to have incentive-clauses built into the Brunson contract. I'm trying to talk myself into this move and performance bonuses would go a long way toward protecting the franchise and avoid this becoming a bad contract. I also hope they front-load the deal, so that we'd maintain some cap flexibility moving forward. We are far from a finished product and need to maintain the ability to add pieces.

Man, feel bad for Ayton. Lost leverage big time. But who can deny that Detroit ended up getting the better player with their space.

Holt crap it’s like the Knicks are giving Detroit all of the assets they had prepared for Jaden Ivey, except instead to got cap space and 1st rounders in exchange.

(Is it possible that Ivey is still in the mix?)

This is what Knicks have left... at this moment?

Brunson, Fournier, RJ, Randle, Mitch

Rose, IQ, Cam, Obi, Sims

Grimes, McBride

Need to jettison Fournier... to his original TPE in boston.

Add Ayton to that list. I think these Knicks and Pistons trades seriously kill the chance they give him a max deal.

Could we dump Randle and Fournier on either the Blazers or Spurs? Seems like both are looking for veterans to help in an ill-concieved playoff push.

Fournier could do well in a wild second unit that includes 6moty candidates Rose, Quickley, and Obi.
The Knicks could use a 3&D swingman right about now. If Dallas does s&t, any chance they’d hand over Bullock? He had a hard time finding minutes early in the year when they were mostly healthy.

Would it be safe to assume Mitch is definitely getting re-signed? I don't think we trade Noel if the Knicks think Mitch is gone.

Knicks gotta trade Randle for picks that they include in the Fournier + Randle picks + other picks for Dejounte Murray trade

That would be the Happy Ending we all been waiting for

Why would you want Murray if we'd be paying big money to Jalen Brunson and Derrick Rose with Immanuel Quickly and Miles McBride still on the roster? I prefer Murray to the aforementioned but I think he'd be a poor fit with what we have.
