What a stark reminder of all the upside of picking the just-departed Knox over him.

I was thinking the same thing. Knox must have had a workout where he knocked down everything cause both of the Bridges, Mikal and Miles have turned out to be better players.

Oh, and I’m glad Bridges isn’t a Knick, he couldn’t handle the Broadway lights! Ok that’s bull****, dude is built for NY. Fucking sucks he’s a Hornet.

How is this a surprise?

They offered, he turned them down.

4 years 60M is what I just read. If he’s betting on himself he made the right bet. 15M per seems more wish then reality for their FO. It’s not like he sucked last season.

If there was ever a game to give Obi some minutes at the 5, it was this one. The Hornets give PJ Washington mins at the backup 5. We needed some additional speed in this game to match up....

The story I read at the time said that they picked Knox because he reportedly dominated Miles Bridges in a 1on1 game/workout.

Knox is 6'8 and Bridges about 6'5 so he had a significant advantage in a 1on1 game. At the time Knox did seem to have a better handle whereas Bridges was more of an athletic freak. (I wanted Mikal btw). Just goes to show you that proper scouting evaluates more than just a guy having a good game one day... glad this front office goes about things differently!

There's one thing so many Knicks fans today are forgetting when mentioning the Knicks should of drafted one of the Bridges, or SGA. All three players would've been in the same BOAT as Knox today, if the Knicks would have drafted them. The Knicks had a BUM president, a BUM GM, a BUM head-coach, and a BUM roster without a leader the day the Knicks drafted Knox.

1) SGA spent his rookie season under Doc Rivers coaching, and Chris Paul running the show.
2) Mikal Bridges were on his way to becoming just a defensive Frank on the Suns, until Chris Paul arrived and turned the franchise around.
3) Miles Bridges & Knox were equal in their performance, until LaMelo Ball arrived to wake-up the (Dead) Jordan Charlotte Hornets.

For over a decade the Knicks owner Dolan refuse to get the Knicks team a decent offense/defense head-coach & staff, plus never going after any of the league top FA PG, or selecting a team-leader PG out of the draft.
Right now .. The Knicks FO, and every long time Knicks fan should be shouting give Philly what they want to get Ben Simmons to be the Knicks decade future leader PG !!!

The good is that we held them to under 100 pts again a winnable game if the offense wasn’t so bad . Some days you got it some days you don’t yesterday we didn’t .

I did not see yesterdays game.

OMG, that happened?

ON MIles Bridges, is the 15mil per the max they could extend him? Did he see the minutes this season infront of him and was willing to risk it? good for him if he did.
Lets be real, Knox was a mistake but the other guys fell for a reason. SGA was an obvious one but Mikail would not have done well here and Miles game really opened up with Haywood, Rozier, and Lamelo on the team playing. Thats nice firepower to get buckets.

I don't view the draft through that lens, that those guys fell for a reason. The Knicks were in a position to draft any of Knox, Mikal, SGA, Bridges and they chose poorly. You don't necessarily fall to the 9-12 picks in the draft (like Michael Porter did to #14), they just weren't talented enough to certainly be in the top 5 at that time (with Ayton, Bagley, Luca, JJJ, Trae) and maybe they could have bumped to a few slots up to 6-8 (Bamba, Carter, Sexton).

Not for nothing but Orlando, Bulls, Cavs (in hindsight) did Knicks a favor by drafting like they did, Knicks messed up.

The Knicks had a chance to draft Mikal, SGA, Bridges and all have turned super solid starter role guys. They scouted poorly.

True, and with the benefit of hindsight we can conclude knicks pissed the sheets with Knox and Frank.
But its entirely possible that we pick Mikal his offense stagnates and its a “bad pick”. Bridges at the time was a 6-5 power foward whose game has grown real nice. But it was not there in predraft showings. SGA was passed by many teams and he right away showed that was a mistake.
You put Knox on the Hornets i’d be curious to see if he does not do much better than what we saw. Put Miles here, three coaches in three years and then a task master like Thibs in his head he might not fair as well. Barego a good coach in CLT.

Im not going to say we did good. We did not. But im not naive to think its plug and play either. Regrets big on SGA.

Hindsight 20/20 is always a fun game to play.

2015: Instead of Porziņgis @ 4th overall we could've drafted Devin Booker (who went 13th overall).

2017: Instead of Frank from France @ 8th overall we could've drafted Donovan Mitchell (who went 13th overall).

2018: Instead of Knox @ 9th overall we could've drafted Miles Bridges (who went 12th overall).

2019: Instead of drafting R.J. Barrett 3rd overall (because Booker/Bridges already in place) we could've drafted Darius Garland who went 5th overall.

2020: Instead of drafted Obi Toppin 8th overall we could've drafted Tyrese Haliburton (who went 12th overall).

Starters.
C: Mitchell Robinson.
PF: Julius Randle.
SF: Miles Bridges.
SG: Devin Booker.
PG: Darius Garland.

Backups.
C: Nerlens Noel.
PF: Taj Gibson.
SF: Quentin Grimes.
SG: Donovan Mitchell.
PG: Tyrese Haliburton.

Would we then be a happy fan base?

No, because Mitch and Noel don't shoot threes

And yesterday they were obviously missing Melo and Oubre. Have Bouknight and Kai Jones in the pipeline.
