If Russell Westbrook was able to successfully lower KD's ceiling why shouldn't he be able to do the same for AD and LeBron? Anyone think LeBron will hand Westbrook the keys to the offense? What will Westbrook do off the ball?

If Russ is all about “winning” perhaps its time for him to demonstrate how. Melo to stay in the league had come to grips that he needed to not just be in better shape (not Westbrooks issue) but to do otherthings besides attack. This will be hard for him as he a double-double machine, MVP and a beast. How Vogel will be to influence him and others to play in will be a challange. You got Melo, Lebron, Rondo, and Wesbrook all Alphas on the back 9 of their careers. To succeed they need to be healthy (duh) but play enough to get the reps thru a long season and build chemistry for the playoff run.
The OKC version of Westbrook and KD with Harden was a different look. Westbrook is now on a talented team. He knows he is not 25 anymore and trying to build an MVP season. He has to know moving without the ball with this kind of talent will give him easier buckets and open things up for his mates. He will get open looks but has to hit them too!!!

They were on fire first two games of the season before cooling off in Game 3.

Kevin Pelton on ESPN.com wrote that pre season games are 30% predictive of the regular season. That seems fair. I'm also interested in how historical that figure is. It seems like pre season games now are much more competitive than even 4 years ago (Frank's freshman year). I don't think the Bulls will be great and the Lakers suck but I'm leaning that way.

In general the East looks super competitive this year, especially if Kyrie misses significant time. I got the Bucks and Nets on top but a huge jumble of New York,Boston,Miami, Chicago, Indiana,Washington,Philly, and Atlanta in the middle. Every game will be a struggle until the All star break.

Watched some Bulls highlights and was impressed, especially with some of their flashes of D, but that Laker lineup... and Ariza is already out for two months or more, will be interesting to see what happens.

Speaks to the depth of the PG class. There was a tier of PG's late 1st - mid 2nd that was really flat in terms of talent. Butler looks good, but so has McBride...was a good draft to trade down as good players were to be had as the talent level of the next 25-30 players flattened after the first 15 picks or so.

Its only 4 preseason games now, before when there was 7 to 8 preseason games you wouldn't see the starters until the last 2 or 3 games.

Now starters are playing 20 to 30 minutes in every game, with only the major vets taking off a game.

I'm not sold on the bulls yet

Wanted to Give a Big shout out to the NETS GM Sean Marks for actually taking reporters questions and not just sending out a 2 paragraph memo regarding one of their top payers.

That's the ONE issue I have with our FO

I think the next time I actually learn anything from aa player, coach or executive press conference or hear an unanticipated, insightful answer will b the first time.

I get as a premise people want access and accountability, but again, when was the last time it was ever REALLY interesting?

It gets interesting when you read head lines like

"KYRIE REFUSE TO PLAY WITH NETS DOESN"T CARE ABOUT THE FRANCISE OR HIS TEAMMATES"

GM SEAN MARKS SEEKING TRADE..

Those are the HEADLINES you get with no press conference explaining what's really going on.

I wonder if Kyrie is waiting until potentially the City mandates are lifted and he can resume playing in Brooklyn. Even without Kyrie and if Durant/Harden are healthy they are quite formitable.

What does Sean marks say that is substantial?

1. The wouldn't go away if the Knicks held a monthly presser because people read them.

2. Don't read them. Problem solved.

Just accept the fact you're not going to know what's really going on. You don't have to read what you KNOW if dubious as if the Knicks silence somehow lends it credibility.

Two completely different issues. Kyrie plain and simply doesn’t seem to even care about basketball anymore.

Two different issues, one very large common denominator - the money. At this point it would seem not only possible but perhaps likely that Irving is of a type to walk away from it for his “reasons.” I actually have an odd respect for that though greatly outweighed by my joy of seeing the Nets suffer.

I actually think Kyrie is doing this cause he's either lazy and doesn't want to play a full season or he's doing it for attention. Has it even been confirmed he's antivaxx? And if so, has he given reasons?

I bet he comes back once it starts to hurt his wallet. Probably by Thanksgiving.
