How many pratices do they get a year? Between the road games and the home games, 50 at most. The guy complains about 50 commutes in a full year driving a very comfortable car. He should just keep his mouth shut, this is disrepectful to people who work for a living.

Your missing the point its just one more reason for players not to sign with the team. When the money is equal these thigs matter

Money is great but quality of life is the most important thing to most of us.

As great as it is to make a ton of money, imagine driving 15 minutes to practice or 90 minutes. That’s time you can spend with your family, it matters when you’re traveling all the time.
That’s time you can be resting your body. Kobe used to take a helicopter to the staples center to avoid traffic so he didn’t tighten up.

Saying that you don’t care about your time because you’re making money is kind of short sighted. All things being equal would you rather fly under the radar with the Nets, make the same money and spend half the time commuting? The answer is probably yes, especially when you’re dealing with Jim Dolan.

The Knicks offer no advantages. Immortality if you win a championship? Not important to 99% of players.

Tell that too people that work at target or walmart ask them you could either make 22 million dollars, but the catch is you have to travel 90 minutes away to work or stay at your current job. Me personally i am not going to care if the practice facility is 90 minutes and i am making 22 million dollars and family time can wait with wife or girlfriend they will understand.

Target or minimum wage? That has nothing to do what’s being discussed. Players aren’t working at target. Let’s be realistic, is $5K more in salary worth 90 minutes commuting each day vs 15 minutes? Is it worth losing that time with your family or time you could be in the gym?

If you’re a free agent you look at the organization first, one of the worst in the league for 20 years, the owner? He’s top 2 worst in the sport? The media? The taxes? Then practice facility that is not near the arena.

You’re catering to talent. You present advantages. The Knicks think they are a draw, that the building matters. When in actuality it’s all irrelevant.

First off not all are making that money. dlee lived in Yonkers. They train there in the off season as well. If your getting treatments as well. this is not about complaining, its about lifestyle. Its not like the guy had a pressor to announce he was not about commuting. Its about selling NYC and then it being not great to get around. Tilting to discuss NBA entitlement to the common man is knick fans taking the bait. Sound like defending Trump tilting to Hillary. What’s the big woo? Jordan is right. Knicks Need to be in the city.

Yeah, a one hour commute to work is nothing, think most of us have done more than that without crying

This. If he wants to take a 40 minute nap do it in the back seat and let someone else drive the car.
Driving in and out of brooklyn isn't easy either. I live here and it sucks.

You can't pamper every player if you are making millions dollars why complain about practice facility . By the way when carmelo anthony and amare stoudmire didn't complain about a practice facility location when they were playing here.

Weak argument. You’re talking about 9/10 years ago.

(Amare you have no knee cartilage left and no one will give you a max deal, welcome to NYC. Melo your concerned about one thing money, wait till the offseason and sign with the team and play on a contender with assets, nope I want the money!)

Role players now get paid 18MM a season, stars used to get 25MM, now that’s what they pay fringe All Stars.

So you want the team to say, stop being so pampered. That gets you Taj Gibson, Bullock, Ellington in free agency. Let’s keep the approach!

No doubt Knicks organization have to humble it up.
This "World Most Famous Arena" and "Storied franchise" is getting old.
Most famost for futility and freak shows and franchise known by joke stories.
The recognition have to be earned... and it was... but it was lost in lats 20 years. Reduced to nothing.
Time to admit that organization suck big time and start building up.
But no... they will hire business consulting(s) and marketing people to "re-build the image" instead of just suck it up and work.
Typical corporate junk.

No you’re actually way off base and have no idea what you’re talking about.

The Knicks couldn’t get any top free agents, Amare was damaged goods and the only person dumb enough to give him 5 years was the Knicks. The TV deal hasn’t kicked in, social media wasn’t anywhere near as prevalent, player couldn’t monetize themselves the same way. You’re citing a player that chose the Knicks 9 years ago. He wanted his money and was ready to go the Nets in order to get it. That’s why Dolan stepped in and ****ed up the negotiations.

Who have we got since with our cap space? Not a soul. 9 years.

Payton complained about the commute as did a number of other players. It doesn’t make someone spoiled if they want a practice facility close to their home or family.

Durant and Irving have been throwing shade all season long. Players dumb on this organization every day. So the cards are against the Knicks. Who wants to play here Marcus Morris?

You control the narrative or you have to hire a company to rebrand the organization. Which is another example of the Knicks being out of touch.

+1

Organization needs decent honest people with integrity and talent on every level.
Knicks had only corporate f..ers looking for big paychecks and power over everything.
Fortunately there is nothing left here but Dolans cache and trail of failure.
Hopefully all this blood suckers will find some other place to pray.

no one likes a crappy commute...this facility has been a problem and in the news before, look at what jared dudley had to say last year":

https://nba.nbcsports.com/2019/12/31/jared-dudley-knicks-westchester-practice-facility-a-problem-with-free-agents/

but then i did more digging, and it looks like this facility location was not historically a problem for knicks players, they all used to live outside of the city. i think the nets ruined it for everyone. they should have a practice facility under the garden, like in a secret lair, that would be cool.

Again, we have signed one All Star in free agency in 24 years. The only reason we got that free agent, was because he had chronic knee problems.

The Knicks aren’t relevant, haven’t been for a long time. 17 games of Jeremy Lim was the best part of the last 20 years.

You’re mad at role players, that we have to overpay just to come here because they don’t want to sit in traffic.

Understand the last time we were good, most young players were 5-7 years old. So no one thinks this franchise is cool or needs to play here.
You can make money anywhere, the living costs and taxes in NYC are insane as is the media scrutiny. If players want an easier commute, give it to them. Otherwise, we can trade away assets for cap space and listen to our incompetent front office and our owner slouched over telling the world that they have information that guys want to be here. That information was confirmed again this offseason. No one

What is the most sure-fire way to make the Knicks 'cool' again and a target for Free agents?

Answer: If RJ Barrett becomes a great player.

So most of that is on RJ himself but why not invest in coaches and trainers and doctors and nutritionists and make every part of the organization part of the supporting cast? Ask HIM where he wants to live. Cater to your stars.

Who says we don’t have state of the art tech and medical? As to moving to facility for RJ? Maybe he is not about NYC quite yet. He is 19, not legal to club and might not be his scene. Some of these kids are introverts, like to game, they are way into their bodies and might even have their mom’s staying with them in stretches. Barrett did not grow up deprived, he grew up with a basketball pedigree and uncle Stevie Nash (godfather) there to lend a hand and guidance. I want to keep him happy and productive. I don’t want him going to Toronto as a star of Canada!!

I think his comment is fair, especially regarding the location of a practice facility. The Knicks need a practice facility near the Garden. Maybe worst case they could block out Chelsea Piers for a few hours. But when you're in NYC and you make your players commute out of the city just to practice is pretty silly.

This. Also, it would be money better spent then investing in rebranding. I remember hearing that net players last year would get together and workout at night sometimes.
