Kinda disappointing he left for the Wolves - heard it was for the minimum which we easily could have given him. I actually think he's worth the 4-5 mill range. He played good defense and showed potential until he tailed off in the 2nd half. Maybe there's something behind the scenes of why they let him walk?

well he was a great replacement for KOQ but did display a bad IQ at times. If the Wolves deal is 4-5 million or less, I can see him being brought back...provided we actually needed another PF/C. Considering he already did play under Fiz I am surprised a 24 year old wasn't brought back. Was he not going to fit in the fast paced offense...? If so, Frank is also on borrowed time.

Simple. Mills had his eyes on Taj for $10M. Smh

Taj better be the second coming of Al Horford in terms of locker room leadership

This reeks of letting Justin Holiday go and signing Ron Baker.

He played well for us last year and had some bright moments. Not to mention he’s still young. He would have been a nice guy to lock into a team friendly deal similar to KOQs first contract.

Just another reason why our signings were incompetent and rushed.

DeMarre Carol was also a signing we should have made instead of Bullock.

Don’t have a lot of faith in this plan they are executing.

Agreed, another guy let go to free up cap space for the heralded 2019 class. Think they knee jerked to save face. Having a couple of days to get over my high expectations, it is what it is. More upset at myself for expecting anything regarding FA's and the ability of Knicks to attract them. Have to focus on the fact all the scraps signed were mostly short term deals and will be forgotten by next year. We have some young players to watch. Excited about RJ and other draft picks. Excited about Smith, Frank and other returning youngsters.

This one is a head scratcher. Relatively young, can stretch the floor and play D. One of few two way players on the team. Kornet is another. Only explanation is we are gonna play a much faster pace. Still don't get this.

I would have liked to see Vonleh brought back. He was inconsistent though, that might have something to do with it.

Vonleh faded in the second half of the season...Portis is a better prospect...he's taller, faster, more skilled and more consistent from the perimeter.

Portis is not without his own set of flaws...but like I said, he is more skilled than Vonleh

Vonleh was a bargain and played D. Wish him the best and sad to see him go. I thought he really applied himself

Does anyone know enough about Portis and his ability to
Switch on D?

Scouting video from 2015....Reminds me of a poor mans Kevin Garnet. Talks about his defense at the 1:45 mark

He's a better version of Vonleh, with a higher ceiling and I think he's younger.

How is that smh? And you are a player no? All teammates are created equal right? You like playing the same with everyone the same right? I mean open your eyes. They Taj because they wanted Taj, not because they were desperate to find 10ppg and 6rebs.

This is an incredibly young team. The vets are 25. We have teenagers. This is not tank year. I am not saying we are making the playoffs but these moves clearly say the Knicks are ready to field a team and build some structure around the young kids. That means having vets your coach can lean on. They aren't marching Taj out as the player they were one player away from.

I get some of these contracts are pricy but all are 1+1. I mean this is max flexibility, added useful players and guys who you like from a culture standpoint.

Not saying its going to work but let Perry get his guys.

Portis for 15MM a year or Vonleh for 2MM.

This reminds me again when teams lost their minds and handed out stupid contract because of the escalating caps to Evan Turner, Alan Crabbe, etc. Lock in value when you can. The Knicks offseason is a ****ing joke. These idiots overpaid a much of marginal journeyman.

Stay woke!!
