Does anyone know why Houston didn’t have to renounce their bird rights to Nene when they signed Eric Gordon?
This is the Randle.

Apparently the NBA rejected the Nene contract anyway.

Not very complimentary article on the Knicks, not well researched either. Second article Ive read about the roster that didnt mention Smith jr. Dont expect the superstar treatment, but no mention at all is weird. Also didnt mention the stated long term goals of mgmt. At least they wont have the pressure of expectations. Just their own.

I think they didn't void the contract exactly, they stipulated that it couldn't be traded, which was the worst outcome for the Rockets as now not only does Nene count as guaranteed salary (when they are just a few hundred thousand from going over the tax threshold), but it salary doubles from $2.5mil to over $4mil if he just plays 6 or 9 games (as per the bonuses they put in place so they could trade him)- from there it just goes up and up, so essentially they're stuck with a player they can't afford to play as they'll meet their bonuses and inflate their cap hit.

So today it's announced that KD is definitely out for the season and that Kyrie broke his face and sports media doesn't even burp. Can you imagine the trashing and thrashing that would be going on if they were Knicks FAs? Pathetic. Regardless, I am glad for our situation over theirs which would have been business as usual.
