What do the Knicks end up doing with the 3rd pick?

I think the 3rd pick leaves us more uncertain until draft day- depends on what the Pelicans want to do, and what the Griz do.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Griz took RJ. I could see us doing Frank or DSJ and the 3rd for the 2nd. I don't think we trade down and I think the Pelicans asking price for AD will be too high.

I'm still not sure whether to take DeAndre Hunter over RJ.

Keep the pick, draft RJ Barrett
Keep the pick, draft Ja Morant (Griz take RJ)
Trade up to 2 and take Ja Morant (send 3rd pick and either Frank or DSJ)
Trade for AD
Trade down
Keep the pick but take DeAndre Hunter

If we don't think Barrett and Morant stand that far above the rest of the Top 10 after Zion, I'd like to see us trade down and get another asset.

I agree about the asking price for AD. I worry about a second Melo like trade if the Knicks go that route. I think taking Barrett if he is there would be the best move.

I go as far as the 3rd pick, Kevin knox, DSJr and the Dallas 2023 1st Rd pick for AD and that's it. Anything more than that would be counterproductive

Pick whoever the Grizz doesn’t pick between RJ and Ja.

Get the potential players in for tryouts and interviews then access the talent. Trading down works if someone values trading up and then one has to ask what they see that we don’t?

WE draft before we sign FA’s. Today if your asking, we take R.J.

History. Some HoFers and some real duds too. With the caveat that I have never been good at predicting NBA success of college players, I am hoping we pick Morant or Garland or facing that someone with legitimate playmaking ability and defense. We need to get back to sharing the ball.

I think the 3rd pick has a good success rate compared to most of the picks. The 2nd seems to have been cursed since the 1990s ended!:

I suppose it depends on whether you're trying to land AD as one of 2 stars, in which case you don't empty the cupboard, or as one of 3 stars, in which case you'd have to to make the salaries work.

To be honest I wouldn't offer much player wise if AD is only one of 2 stars, because we'd be left far too thin it wouldn't be worth it. No way would I trade Mitch.

Amusingly enough, Griffin has rather generously already told us all what he'd trade AD for when he was a commentator on ESPN a few months ago . Here it is at the 5min mark:

So, he said:

1) at least one young player with star potential
2) Picks
3) an elite role player veteran

So that would favour Boston- the key thing is if Kyrie says he won't re-sign regardless, that may deter Boston from wanting an AD trade. Really Boston tick all the boxes, so I think that makes them the most likely destination. What f

In another video, Griffin says he wouldn't trade for Ball because of his dad, but says Pelicans were much better when they had a PG to play alongside Holiday. Again Boston could include one (Rozier sign and trade).

So Boston could do

1) Brown or Tatum, plus Rozier
2) this years picks and or the Memphis pick (top 6 protected next year, unprotected the year after)
3) Smart or Horford

We could fulfil category 1 and 2, but we have no elite vet role players to offer them.

Wasn't Griffin the same guy Mills told toid kick rocks because he wanted a lot more power As the GM for the knicks..

I don't think he will be giving the knicks a favorable deal of any sorts for AD

Only thing the Knicks will do with the third pick is make matters worse. They are going to ruin anyone that they take.

That's your reasoning?
He makes the best deal possible for the Pels no matter what. Owner has final say. If Mrs. B and her advisors says deal with lakers is best for Pels, that's the deal. If she says "I take it personal and even though Magic is gone No WAY".....that's that her choice, not Griffin's.

But to even think "oh, I interviewed with knicks and although they did not make an offer I wanted full autonomy and they said that was not a good fit, so I won't deal with knicks".

How would that fly if you owned the team?

Yup. Why play hard to get? Identify your target and go home with her. If someone takes your chica, go home with her hot best friend. The idea is to go home with a hot chick. Not two phone numbers to be used later.

Typical open ended lack of detail lazy answer. You did not answer the question......
Im asking you if your the owner and you got wind that your guy took less from another team because he was not granted something during a negotiation that preceded his employment would you say he did not put the teams best interests first?

He rejects the better offer.
Raises the price, knicks walk.

Say you want to sell your car to Nalod. Your asking $10,000. I offer you $9500. someone offers you $9,200, but because Nalod calls you "rainman" you say "screw that, this is a good car and I'd be damned If I will let him have it for less than asking!!!! Then you accept the $9200, that's on you.

Say in the above situation your Sister asks you to sell the car for you. I offer you full price, $10,000. You respond with "10,500" and I instead walk. Your sister asks you about it and you say "Nalod called me a name, so I asked for more money"....
She replies: SO what happened?
"He Walked, no sale". Got an offer from Vmart for $9200!! Vmart is my friend.
She replies: "What did he call you"?
"Rainman"
Why?
"says I focus more on my agenda and not listen to reason"
Sister: does he have something against Autistic people?
No, he just says Im like the fictional character in the movie by the same name. I laugh at him.
Sister: Well done "RAINMAN"! You just cost me $1300!!!!
