Knox has played absolutely terrible so far this season. You haven't spent even 1/10th the amount of energy used when you were knocking Frank last season. Dating back to his own ankle injury in the preseason.

Knox has looked like a "low IQ, ball jock, AAU player with lazy defense". If we were to equate the generalizations, bias and prejudice views between Frank and Knox.

They are also both 2 of the youngest players in the NBA. Knicks could have gone after older rookies like Mitchell and Miles. They went after the boom or bust potential. Would make no sense to take players this young and this raw if they aren't committed to long term development and the supreme lows of developmental prospects.

Knicks have made their choices. They need to follow through.

Wonder if Knicks1248 sees anti frank articles as vindication or soft porn?
Knox too much AAU but Frank is not enough?
Calipari if reading between the lines might not have thought he was ready to move to the NBA. Bottom line is if you go top 10 you go? Quarter of the season in the bag and we have his trajectory figured out? Im not buying that either.
Frank's play has declined when we deviated from what Fiz was doing earlier. This helps Mudiay and Trier's game. Three game streak does speak for itself but does it move the franchise forward.
What we did or didn't do with Reezy or any other player in a previous regime does not matter as all the characters are different. I just don't want to see us dump Frank and watch him go on for 15 years having a productive career elsewhere. Naturally "Winning" would take the sting out of that. If I can get over "Willy", I can get over this.

Dude, its not denial as it is fans hoping for a good thing. You or I have no decision capacity here. If Fan wants to be hopeful that's onething. Why are you so hell bent on "being that guy"? You know, the "guy" that gets to say "I told you so"? Over and over you bash the guy which is your prerogative but its not like your doing anyone any favors by helping them. Its not an "Intervention" were your helping someone see the light. We like Frank's defensive acumen and have hopes for him. Its part of being a fan. No, you can't take that from people no matter how many times you try.

His whole arguement against Frank has been rooted in the fact that he is from Europe and not from AAU. But Knox is from AAU and has a year of college. So if we were to claim that Knox's problems stem from his AAU upbringing. Which makes him a low IQ chuck with lazy defense. Then we would sound like Knicks1248.

The fact that he isn't bringing this same energy says all that needs to be said. As this would ultimately distroy the foundation of his critique.

thats part of the argument, but the FACT is. he doesn't shoot PUSH THE PACE, penetrate, (let me say this again..15% from 3's in the month of nov 29% overall) 9 FT for the month of NOV, and just 4 layups, in which he made 2 of the 4

You can't be in the NBA with those type of #s..seriously.

What game this year can you look back and say, his elite defense was on display, he locked so and so down (maybe 19 yr old trey young) and the knicks don't want him to spend a second in the G league..

Gotta love the development process..

Like I posted up a couple of days ago.
Frank played 53 total possessions against Taytum, Lillard, CJ, & Holiday. He gave up a combined 9 pts over 3 games within those 53 possessions.

Hes trying to find his game on offense. Just like Knox & Mitch. He had a horrible month of November no doubt. Which is why he lost his starting job and has been regulated to bench role. His main problem, which majority has pointed out has been due to confidence. So the question is what are the Knicks doing to build up his confidence? You can't have a kid like Frank display all the confidence he displayed vs Warriors and Nets in his first 2 ever starts at PG with complete games of defense and efficient offense. Then allow him to just lose it all. What is being done to get him going? Knicks drafted him in the lottery. Knicks are rebuilding. So what is the plan to actually work through his issues and build him up & develop him? What is the plan for him when he is subbed into the game to build him up brick by brick?

In your whole reply not one mention of Knox, again exposing yourself.

Excellent Post. I agree about confidence. Earlier in the year I felt fiz was showing more confidence in him and put the ball in his hands more which gave Frank more confidence. Yes frank has had struggles but all young players do. I was totally fine with letting mudiay getting some starts but like you said there has been no plan to help Frankie. Plus giving him 10-12 minutes doesnt help much

You guys think it's all on the court, but it's way more than his confidence that's shot.

NYC is just the worst place to develop because of the distraction, the media market, the city itself.

Frank has it worse because not only was he mad young, he has to adapt to a different culture with his friends and family halfway across the world, he has to deal with a dozen mics in his face, a 100 bloggers criticizing his game left and right. When he put his name in the draft, he decided to put his big boy pants on, but they keep dropping to his ankles and that becomes embarrassing, which is the state of their game.

To make matters worse he came to a team that had zero stability, little to no vet leadership, a fan base desperate for some success, then he gets toss on stage to learn on the fly.

The knicks put their 2 youngest players in a position to get completely expose on one of the biggest sports stages in the world. They have put them in roles they clearly can't handle, with very little support in terms of leadership. They think they're speeding up the process, when they are in fact causing these players to regress like every draft pick we ever get.

That's why it's so tough to develop in NY because it's just too much going on.

Kanter said the other day in a interview(with ben stiller) that guys sitting on the bench sometimes scour the crowd for celebs, and not even paying attn to the game(we all do the same thing when you got good seats at the garden) he said in the 7 yrs of him playing in UTAH and OKC, he couldn't recall ever seeing a single celeb..

Only certain kinds of players can make it in NY and everyone on this board can attest to that if your being honest with yourself

NY or not all teams need to go through a devlopment process through unless you are blessed with a awesome management staff/coach and HOF player like San Antonio for so many years. We know you dont like the whole rebuilding process you have made that clear. We tried the whole ,"win now" process for 15 years and became a joke. At least now we have a plan. Its not gonna translate wins right away but thats simply the reality with a young team

Knox showed me something last night. Not just his play but more importantly how he bounced back from a little adversity. Showed he has some heart. I'm happy for the dude. Lets see what Frank does next time he gets a chance.

I'm not surprise at all by Knox because that's been his M O, then he has these "deer in headlight" stretches where your like "wtf dude"

I'm always hope full for frank, but I'm not holding my breath, how many games has he played and still hasn't score 20 points...smh, and trier and knox (19 yrs old) haven't played 25 games yet and posted that coming off the bench.

Frank will never average in double digits.
This is not his game.
He is defensive specialist and will need to develop consistent 3-point shot.
This is exactly the type we need around KP.
It is also the type needed for any modern NBA contender.

I just don't get the "never" aspect of any part of his game. A 20 year old who is physically underdeveloped so labeled with such conviction by fans with no professional experience to flat out make that call.

Now with each passing season the statistically probability does tell a story but that's not really what many are saying.

Agree Frank needs time. But stop with the BS that this is not "His Game". Its got to be the type of game for ANYONE that wants to be a good plauer in the "Modern" NBA. He will be a disappointment if he cannot use his athletic ability to be more of a threat on offense. He also has good, mechanics so no reason he cant shoot a consistent three pointer. Think its all mental. Understandable considering the NY enviroment and expectations. But YES, if he does not improve his offense, not only will he be a dissapointmentaa a lotto pick but he may struggle to be a starter in the Modern NBA. I think if he geta his head right, he will ahow he can be more than just a defender.

It doesn't matter how good his defense is if he only shoots 30% and can't drive or setup an offense playing 4 on 5 on the O = special situation bench player or out of the league. People should be more worried than they are that he has regressed so much in this area.

Agree....that word never shouldn't be used for anybody that's developing real time.

I think Frank's problem is not all on him. He could be a bad fit on this team and in this new offensive culture. I think if he was undrafted or a 2nd round pick. he wouldn't get so much negative press. We have to forget he was drafted high...that's not his fault.

This team has the lowest assist totals in the NBA. That means if Frank makes 1 pass, hes not seeing the ball again. Or if someone makes 2 passes, to other teammates, hes not seeing the ball again. In case you guys didnt know, u need the ball to put up offensive stats. That's why Knox appears to jack everything.....If he just passed the ball and played within the system, fans and the media will kill him. Basically the NBA are creating a culture of gunners. So players like Frank will never show up on the stat sheet consistently. You have to use a different measuring stick for him.

Knox is a better fit, as far as how the fans define him...and how the NBA is turning into an offensivegame.. I'm glad Fiz doesn't or I hope he doesn't use the same measurement stick as fans use. And I believe he sees Frank as a potential lockdown defender which is needed in todays 3pt offensive gunning culture called the NBA. Frank's problem is simple....he was born too late. That defensive culture old NY fans grew up watching is dead and buried behind all these new offensive rules and lack of traveling or carry calls.

Using Frank's offensive stats as a measuring stick for his develop is all wrong. Especially on a team full of gunners that dont pass. Trier had a lot of negative press about his game in college. Because he was a chucker that dribbles and doesn't pass. Why u think hes killing now? Because hes in a system that promotes chuckers....and devalues players that play team ball. We need both types and need to figure out how to use Frank's defensive skills....because its needed in this culture. Everybody cant and shouldn't be gunners.

Franks shot count dropped when we moved away from ball movement.
Is this system Fiz "Adapting" to what he has or this where he is going? I doubt any of us can answer.
I'll say it again, with KP, and a likely top 7 pick we might be infusing two, or perhaps three new starters next season compared to now. Trades and waives will also change the complexion of this franchise.
So if this is part of the "Development" it might work for Trier, mudiay, and knox but won't for Frank unless we ok with him not scoring.
And we should not be. He needs to hit his open looks. Otherwise defense won't respect him. No player can be inept at the basic purpose of the game which is buckets. If it was not for his defense and passing he'd be Gleagued or waived. Time for Fix to "fix" this kid!!!

I think this is a fair and solid article.

Yes, he should hit open looks. But what if Denis Rodman was graded on how many open looks he hit? If we graded Rodman like we are with Frank, Rodman would've never made it in the NBA. Based on your assessment, Rodman would've been in the Gleague and eventually out of the league.

Regardless if the league is going towards all offense and no defense, defense is still important. And I don't think it's acurate to grade a defensive player on how many open shots he hit. Same with Curry and why he would've had a hard time in NY.....Because fans would've graded Curry for his lack of defense, instead of his offensive skill set.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree on this point.

Let Frank do what he does....Look at the entire picture and not just made shots. Frank has some defensive things to work on. His offense is already ahead of defensive specialist like Rodman and others, at the same age. In fact, Franks offense might be better than these other guys in their prime.

You messure Frank based on his impact on the game....

I said this in another thread - Bruce Bowen is the type of player I think of when thinking about Frank.

And let's be honest - Bruce Bowen, when teams are scoring 115 or so on a given night, might not be in the league today.

True, Bruce might score more, taking more 3's, but that isn't a given.

I'm patient with Frank, but every day that goes by, it starts to look like he may be a bust - and he had that potential coming into the league.

He really should go to the G League. I wonder why they are afraid to send him there- could tremendously help get him sorted.

Just like THj....If he can go to the Gleague, then come back to the NBA and sign a huge contract. Why not Frank? I agree....Frank needs more playing time somewhere, to keep his offensive confidence high. He's already confidence with his defense.

Bruce Bowen is a good comparison and I can see him becoming that over time. I also agree players like Bruce Bowen and other defenders from the past, might not be in the league today. But then you have Patrick Beverly, who continues to find a job in todays NBA.....But to Beverly credit, he improved his offense. Same with Bowen who I think Frank can be that same knock down 3 point shooter.

it might put him under more scrutiny. He was the 8th pick but Miller was coy and Robinson is supposed to be involved with player development there. Frank is so young. There was an article in bleacher report yesterday where it talked about issues Frank had last year just understanding what the coaches were yelling out to him. It is so early in his career I think it would be worth giving it a shot especially if they see him as a point guard. We know Frank is a high character kid with a great work ethic and a cost controlled contract. It seems very early to give up on him.

Frank should not be traded. Has shown good signs. Dont understand the urgency to give up on the kid? Yes I wanted Smith or Mitchell. Who cares. For anyone that has coached at any level, you can see the improvement he has made and the lessons Fiz is trying to teach. The impatience is underatandable for a fat ugly reporter who is frustrated covering successful athletic people and who only has a belly to boast about.

As for Knox, he has played how, many NBA games? Oh wait....hiw many gamea since he graduated High School? Hopefully the front office iant this stupid.

Whether Frank is playing 1,2 or 3 he has got to play with more aggression. I don't know if than can be taught. There have been better players than him that have done stints in the G league, so why not? I'd like to measure his free throws by the box score not the calendar.
Bring back dee-fense
Not a lot of Luv for Frank or Knox
