Athleticism is more than just jumping high. Hezonja does seem to have twitchiness or explosivenss many wings have. Unlike someone like Luka, he doesn't seem to have the craftiness either.
Good take on this. Hezonja's story isn't all that unique. He's one of those "tools" players. The specs look right but (at least at this point) he's missing the special sauce that's the difference between a solid NBA rotation player and an impact player. He can run and jump, but he's not quick. He can make some highlight passes but mostly makes safe plays (a bit like KP and Frank, actually).
Looking around the league, he's sort of like the Morris twins. They've been good for 11-12ppg, 5-6rpg for their careers, but interestingly Marcus, currently on the Celtics, is basically providing the same or better production than Tatum, Brown, and Hayward. He's seen a notable tick in production and efficiency in his late 20s. Basically 15ppg/7rpg in 25mpg this year. That's a really productive player!
Maybe with a little more development from Fiz and staff he'll gain a little more gamecraft. But it's a bit of a red flag that he isn't thriving here. (heck, even Doug McBuckets had a 2 month stretch of brilliance here)
