What’s with this guy? Whenever I watch him he doesn’t seem to do anything well. A waste of a signing in my opinion.

It wasn’t a bad gamble but it’s not working out so far. With Knox, Vonleh, trier, and Dotson all needing to find more minutes than expected, I don’t see a future in the rotation for long.

He is missing something essential for NBA player... not sure what.
He should play in Europe.

I think he just doesn’t have a true nba go-to skill. He can score in a variety of ways but its more from just hunting for points as opposed to having a specialty on offense that teams value.

He is missing being good at basketball. So tired of these 6 10 no position guys who kind of sort of can shoot but not really, look like they would not know what a weight room looks like and don't even attempt to get low on D or box out.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Athleticism is more than just jumping high. Hezonja does seem to have twitchiness or explosivenss many wings have. Unlike someone like Luka, he doesn't seem to have the craftiness either.

Good take on this. Hezonja's story isn't all that unique. He's one of those "tools" players. The specs look right but (at least at this point) he's missing the special sauce that's the difference between a solid NBA rotation player and an impact player. He can run and jump, but he's not quick. He can make some highlight passes but mostly makes safe plays (a bit like KP and Frank, actually).

Looking around the league, he's sort of like the Morris twins. They've been good for 11-12ppg, 5-6rpg for their careers, but interestingly Marcus, currently on the Celtics, is basically providing the same or better production than Tatum, Brown, and Hayward. He's seen a notable tick in production and efficiency in his late 20s. Basically 15ppg/7rpg in 25mpg this year. That's a really productive player!

Maybe with a little more development from Fiz and staff he'll gain a little more gamecraft. But it's a bit of a red flag that he isn't thriving here. (heck, even Doug McBuckets had a 2 month stretch of brilliance here)

Some players can adapt to who they are playing with. Mario only seems to click with some players. Might also need regular minutes, know his role before he can be more consistent. New team, and a whole lotta roster shuffling.

Believe some players will play their roles better, when they're more clearly defined. Expect the rotation to become less fluid at some point, seems to be starting already.

At first glance, it looks like he has all the tools, but something is straight up just off about him (similar to some of the other Euro busts of past like Darko). He's just not a team player. The fact that he went as far as playing passive and not shooting in preseason to change the perception of him being an "ass-hole" is very telling. Something like that shouldn't be so forced.
