Demps may have made a personal decision, not a business decision in refusing to deal with the Lakers. Keep in mind, players requesting trades before the trade deadline have normally been dealt before the deadline passes. Melo requested a trade to the Knicks and got dealt, George requested a trade and got moved to OKC, Our very own KP was moved.....Seems like Perry, Ujiri and the Indy GM had the foresight to move the disgruntled star because the aftermath of keeping them on the team would be a mess. Demps didnt account for this and it cost him his job. Indy was able to find another team to move George to but Demps couldn't...

Ownership call.

When AD was drafted, the Pelicans defied logic and tried immediately to surround him with fast help instead of just tanking for a few years. This too was an ownership call.

Lots of GMs are subject to the whims of their owners. Robert Kraft is pretty hands off. If he wasn't, the Patriots wouldn't have that many rings.

This was a case of pretty massive and open tampering. You can't blame Demps here for not making the trade to the Lakers. What the Lakers did with LBJ is one of the biggest open **** yous in all of sports history.

If a top 5 franchise player doesn't come heel and stump for you, you are done in the NBA. Just how it works.

I too agree Demps followed what ownership wanted. Most fans don’t get how influential the owner is. They approve all big decisions. Dolan would have been consulted on KP and the logic behind trading him.
As for Demps, the problem is the team is in disarray. Nola did what we did with Ewing back in the day.
Demps for an array of reasons might have lost his leverage in negotiations and ownership was frustrated with how they got here. Seems like a bad time time to make a change. Ferry if he can publically resolve his internal gaffe regarding what happened in ATL might be a good choice to turn the franchise around.

There seems to be an effort to push the same old Knicks narrative. The idea that the Knicks didn’t scout Giannis and that it is all over the news. Grunwald was running things then. He signed Amos and Cope. No way he didn’t scout Giannis.

I always thought that quote from the documentary was fishy. It has been long established that we have one of, if not the most, extensive scouting departments in the world. Also, I'd imagine that it wouldn't always be in your best interest to make a grand entrance every time you attend one of these events. Part of being a scout also involves some behind the scenes background research of potential prospects.

Always... always remember: Less is less. More is more. More is better and twice as much is good too. Not enough is bad, and too much is never enough except when it's just about right. - The Tick

KD showing Embiid what he's going to do to him next season with the Knicks.

Didn't realise they were very good friends until the past few days (Kyrie said in a recent interview), I was initially worried KD would see Kyrie as another Westbrook (who I like, but KD seemed not to enjoy playing with)

I was worried about the same thing, but sounds like they're ready to play on the same team.

In the Memphis win over the Lakers Noah just had 14pts and 12 rebounds and forced a crucial late charge call on LBJ.

Lakers body language was horrendous again. They have 14 out of their last 22 against teams with winning records too. Put a fork in them!

A few nights ago he had 22 and 11, going 12 for 12 at the FT line...the knick's will be paying him to play well for other teams for the next 3 yrs..smh

You’d of preferred we were paying him his full salary next season instead of going after KD and Kyrie?

They had no control on the a**hole he became here. To think he was supposedly a Knicks fan before getting here makes his stay even more maddening.

Good riddance. I’d rather win or lose with this bunch of youngsters.
