Man...unless I am missing something Celtics have 4 1st rounders this year though it appears based on current records none are above # 17 which would be Celtics own pick.

The also have Kings, Memphis and Clipper picks —- right now 20, 21 and 25 because those 3 teams are playing well early.

If the othe4 3 teams keep it up Ainge loses some significant leverage with those picks that were all considered very high or lottery picks in summer

Grizzlies, protected 1-8

Clippers, protected 1-14

Kings, protected 1 overall only

It's actually in the Celtics interest that the Griz and Clips do sort of well.

The Kings are currently on their fifth coach in six years, and Joerger is under contract through the 2019-20 season.

Joakim Noah may still have some NBA basketball left in him.

The Memphis Grizzlies are in "extensive discussions" to sign the veteran center, sources told the New York Times' Marc Stein.

Noah was waived by the New York Knicks in October after appearing in only seven games last season, though his $19-million salary will remain on the Knicks' books for the rest of this season.

The two-time Defensive Player of the Year turns 34 in February and hasn't suited up in more than 50 games since 2014-15.

If he goes there and looks close to the old Noah we expected, how would you feel then?

I'd be happy for the Griz fanbase and even happier that Noah is no longer here. But what's the likelihood Noah bounces back? Plus, you know Noah wouldn't get much burn with us anyway if Kanter is coming off the bench.

I'd feel like he had no character, took a ton of money and didn't behave like a professional when he was a Knick. I don't think he has much left but maybe getting benched in Chicago and the way things ended in NY has humbled him and he can accept a role that his body will hold up for.

agree with all of this. Clippers are using Briggs-fave Boban in ways that Detroit never did. Essentially having him play about 10 minutes and they post him up. He's been very efficient at changing a game dynamic in these brief spurts. I could imaging Memphis doing something analogous with Noah. Have him go in for short spells when the defense is starting to get sloppy, and then applaud his efforts in this role if effective.

Over here we expected so much more because of the contract and turned into a dumpster fire

Good question. Then I ask myself how Rainman1248 would feel then know what the wrong approach would be.

Reality is Memphis is a better team so his performance is not a direct correlation to what he would have done here. They are a veteran team with established hierarchy. Here Noah would have been third string. I like this guy and hope he is successful if he lands there.

Noah has lost three steps. He can no longer operate defensively without fouling pretty much all the time. He'll get a pass at times because the constant whistle will kill game flow for the refs. Lots of refs hate him. Noah, in the past, got a short suspension for saying a slur against a certain demographic ( So did Kobe, so did Tim Hardaway Sr) So there are ranks within the league that have never forgiven Noah for such and he's going to have to battle to get good calls. How much the refs like you matters, esp as a fringe guy. ( Guys like Ronny Turiaf, Bimbo Coles, Tom Tolbert and such got to play a little longer because they were simply very popular in the NBA and could get away with a little more on the court)

At a certain point, with age and lots of injuries, some guys can't cycle down off their PEDS and function. They need the aid in basic recovery.

Noah is one of the highest BBIQ players the league has ever seen. He's not in the Dumars/Olajuwon range, but he understands what he can and can't do anymore, the problem is he's become a total *******.

I really enjoyed watching him play in his prime with the Bulls.

He'll be more rested and his PEDs testing will shift as he's not on an active roster right now. In a previous generation, he could have squeezed another 2-3 years as a pure enforcer. But those days are gone.
