That is going to get interesting. Sounds like ownership is getting involved in moving Butler despite what Thibs wants.

the team pushed it to the limit and tried to trade him, but they are making the smart move to cut him.

i think u’re right. he made himself really hated here. we’re trying to go in such a different direction. hopefully fiz learned some things from his gasol dealings but it doesn’t need to be put to the test this quickly.

Noah is probably holding out for every dime he can extract from the Knicks. Thanks Phil.

Don’t we get an injury exception for KP? Last I checked we had 16 guaranteed contracts. If we get an exception, can’t we carry 16 players and have Noah sit out until he comes to reasonable terms?

I'm not a fan of the buyout. There are no quick fixes. I'd rather bite the bullet this year, and then have an ending contract that could be traded or bought out on more favorable terms.

Noah must have cursed out Dolan or Mills - only explanation.

What kind of contribution are we getting from 15th man? If you need a spot, cut Ron Baker.

I remember Fix saying my that the team wanted a veteran big man who would be content with the playing time that the team could offer. This was shortly after be was hired. Then I think Berman wrote something stating that Fix and Noah met and knowing said he wanted more playing time on a contender. It sounds like the Knicks flirted with the idea of keeping Noah, but they're not convinced Noah won't be a distraction. Whatever. I'm just tired of these "Sham" reports that something is happening. We're already past media day. This is the Melo trade all over again.

another exhibit in the case that the NBA is all screwed up. Teams held hostage by malcontents.

If this were the NFL the solution would be so much simpler.

the idea that the guy has to be paid AND count against the cap is so crazy nuts. First off he should simply be fired NFL style; If he's any good he gets his next gig. In the "real world" the Knicks/employer might be asked to cover the difference, but the Noahs would be expected to mitigate damages.

Even if you want to be only partly cuckoo we should be able to pay him, let him go, and there be no cap hit. He's not on the team (why hit the cap); he got his money (what's the complaint)

Why should well intentioned teams, taking a chance to try and improve, be penalized twice. Once for having to pay for a clunker, and second for not being able to move on from that mistake and instead carry the cap hit

its a double edged sword...players are held hostage by teams all the time. a little payback is not a bad thing, we fans don't like it when it happens to our team, but how many times have we seen a player play their hearts out for their team and get seriously injured and their team's FO simply forgets about them after that.
