Mitchell Robinson led all 2018 draft picks in player efficiency rating while in Las Vegas. His 4.0 blocks per game set a record, dating back to 2004, per RealGM.com.

Robinson also shot 66.7 percent and averaged 13.0 points and 10.2 rebounds in just 24.7 minutes per game, destroying opponents around the basket with his elite-level athleticism, energy and timing.

And this was a kid who hadn't played a game of organized basketball in a year, considering he skipped his freshman season at Western Kentucky.

Robinson would fit nicely in Chicago alongside Lauri Markkanen, the more skilled, perimeter-oriented scorer.

This is the kind of luck/good karma/great GM work that the Knicks need.

I agree,

IDK about the good karma though...the EWING and OAK treatment is still tough to swallow

Now THAT is an encouraging article. No doubt, we had an excellent draft, numbers aside.

Can't wait for the season to start and see how it pans out against real NBA-level talent. Our yoots should blossom, despite any hard knocks.

Memphis would take Knox 4 due to need at SF. Carter would go #5 to Dallas or they would maintain the picks swap with Carter going to ATL.

Knicks never had 2 lotto picks in the same draft. Could be the closest thing to it.

I feel like this is an alternate reality. Somewhere in the real timeline, we traded #36 to move up and select Porter Jr.

I thought Bagley looked highly suspect in --- especially after game 1 he played in Sactown tourney play.

He has reminded me of Walter Berry old St Johns stud who petered out in pro's -- will be interesting to see how Bagley plays this year and if he will be a stud or dud.

Bagley after two games looks like Walter Berry?
WE really writing articles about redrafting after summer league?
Knicks1248 really lamenting on Ewing after the way we treated him? He asked to be traded because his knees could not keep up with is ego.
Camby of course went on to have great seasons after we got rid of him and he played for like 20 more years after!
The trade of Oak as awful, Yet it was the catalyst for our 1999 run to the finals!

This stuff is premature of course but it is still really cool. 2 guys who we can really build with. Hard to believe we squeezed this much value out of the draft. It's as if we got 2 top 10 picks in terms of value.

Would rather read this than another article about the hapless Knicks. Will be interesting to revisit this subject after next season.

Not too early to say IMO that Mitchell and Robinson have already demonstrated the logic behind drafting them was sound.

We essentially got two top 10 picks in a solid draft. That is the type of stuff that changes a franchise. All we need is for our players to grow as expected and we should be a contender in 2020 (assuming we can sign a good max player this summer).

Yeah, they had some good contacts to find Mitchell Robinson all the way in Plano Texas. But working out with Anthony Davis really helped spread his name around and gave him somebody credible to workout with. Between Allen Texas and his workouts with NBA players, I'm sure he was on lots of GMs radar.

Good thing his agent made him drop out of the combine, because he wouldn't have lasted that long in the 2nd round. His agent probably thought since he was not in college game shape, why take that change...keep in mind, he was projected to go in the mid 20s, so it appeared to be a good move. But his physical measurements was intriguing enough.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in Queens, Lives in Maryland. The future is bright, I'm a Knicks fan for life!

True on both accounts! Both are super young and a ton of upside! We'll have to be patient as inexperience brings inconsistency.
In the span of a year we have three guys under 20 (at the moment) and a 22 year old Unicorn mending. Likely another lottery pick next year (that means more losing than not and the Fiz Kids inconsistent) and room for a free agent stud!

The future is not clear but for the first time in many moons a foundation is being laid.

Robinson was from the Melo trade? how is that deal looking now?

We turned Melo into Kanter, Mudiay and Robinson.

Even if Kanter and Mudiay don't play another minute, we won that trade just by getting rid of team cancer Melo!

Mitchel Robinson is so athletic and had such great court coverage, it seems as though he's two people

Thunder realized how useless Melo is. His game has not aged well and he is the most selfish and overrated player
