Trading Hardaway for Mudiay and Faried works on the trade machine.
Tim will likely be unhappy here with losing the 1.5 years. Why not unload him now to a team that could use a young scorer?

It seems like denver is ready to move on from Mudiay. Pairing him with Ntilikina as an experiment cannot hurt. Two young 6'5 PG's couldn't be the worst thing ever to try out.

Both Faried and Mudiay have 2 years left on contracts that expire the summer of 2019 for the large FA class

Thoughts?

To add clarification: The goal of this would be to empty as much cap as possible for 2019. Tank this year. And just see how the experiment and change of scenery goes for Mudiay.

Best case: Faried expires in two years. We draft a lottery pick this year. Frank and Mudiay's shots continue to improve and our backcourt is Mudiay-Ntilikina for years to come.

Worst case: Faried and Mudiay expire. Experiment fails. We still tank for a high pick this year. Empty cap space for 2019 before porzingis returns to the court.

Hardaway is still part of the future. I doubt he gets moved.

Per Woj - The Nuggets could attach a draft pick to Kenneth Faried in an effort to move him before the deadline.
It seems like Faried's name pops up every deadline. It's no secret that the Nuggets would like to move him, as he's clearly behind Trey Lyles and has no path to minutes right now. Plus, Paul Millsap (wrist) is expected back after the All-Star break. He's owed $13.7 million in 2018-19, and while his offensive game is limited, he could be helpful to a playoff-bound team in need of rebounding and energy off the bench. Emmanuel Mudiay and Wilson Chandler are also on the block in Denver.

Alternative - Lee + McDermott for the same deal. Surrounds Jokic with shooters for a nuggets playoff push

I could probably be talked into something like Courtney Lee for Kenneth Faried and a pick. The pick is mostly what I'm after. Faried and Kanter may be to bully ball some lineups (and get shredded by others but, hey, beggers can't be choosers)

Assuming we could use one of our exceptions, I'd take Mudiay if they threw in a second. It looks like the league has figured him out and he's regressed every year. If there's one thing I know about the Knicks it's that the team can't develop anyone. So there is no reason to think we'd do better than Denver

100%

He has NOT impressed me in ANY Denver game I have seen him play since he has been drafted.

The thread starter has obviously never seen Mudiay play

I would take Mudiay on the cheap. Im not sure he is the cerebral PG you want--but Id give him 35 games with a new look for CHEAP.

No thanks. He's been a dreadful NBA player and is guaranteed 4M+ next season. I'd rather spend the energy on Trey Burke personally.

yea... and at 21 Mudiay may yet blossom but he's shown no signs. Totally agree. Burke has done everything asked. Lets see what he's got

The same issue I have with Isiah....is the same with Burke. When u are 6ft and under in the nba......u have to excel at other things outside of scoring.....Otherwise u become a liability. It's one thing to get beat by bigger guards.....but they also get beat by quicker guards. That's part of Burkes problem with hornacek. and that's when Frank is put back in. burke needs to be the main man to show value.....at least the old burke.....but one important skill I see Burke adding to the team is his playmaking ability. setting others up. But he needs to improve his defensive IQ....Frank too....but Frank has 6 inches over him....and giraffe arms.

Here are my thoughts on Emmanuel Mudiay:
1.) He should have gone to college.
2.) He's like the Jay Cutler of point guards. Has the size, speed and strength that all looks good on paper, but when you watch him play, he's just not that good.
3.) Not interested.

Wont happen. But don't think he is as bad as some are making him out to be. And this is a decent proposal, as it includes Faried who most think is a good energy, defense guy. Funny, same guys that praise Franks age, defense and per 36 ratings somehow ignore it in this case. Close to 16,5 and 6. And has improved his FG% and 3pt.%. Always liked Timmy, and dont think we should give up on him but definatley did not like the price tag. Biggest issue for me is that you would me teaming up 2 sub par outside shooters. One that is afraid to take a wide open shot.

Denver runs their offense through Jokic, so they don't need a classic PG. I expect they want a good defender who can shoot. Mudiay is not a good defender from what I have seen, and while his 3pt shooting his up to 37%, his overall shooting is nothing special, and I expect he's still having trouble those hitting midrange shots, which seem important if you are playing off Jokic.

He is young, but some thought he was some kind of PG wonderkid in his draft, and he has hardly lived up to the hype.
