I have no idea what people are complaining about. We finally have a management team that knows how to deal. We got Kanter McDermott etc for Melo and we got a player AND 2 picks for No defense Willy????

Talk about value. Willy was what... a 2nd round pick right? Why do people feel that with 2 second round picks that Knocks mgmt cannot find another Dotson type with a bigger body.

I for one LOVE this trade

yea... cause that is going to be a rewarding experience. Bye!

I trust their FO & coach!
I don't the Knicks - not after this BS move and watching Jeff all year.

Let's see: Traded for Dwight Howard, signed non all-star Batum to $20M+ for 5 years total, drafted Monk and then did give him DNPs, have all-star PG and same record as the Knicks.

I think he meant the Nets but really, whats the diff.

haha I missed that

I love Willy but getting 2 2nd round picks is pretty good. Basically, his value was a late 1st or 2 2nd rounders and we got that.

This is a good deal.

watching Jeff all year? Getting Frank 20mpg? Benching Beas to have him come back as one of our best scorer? Lee/KOQ have career years? KP to the all star game... yea Jeff has been bad. Not. Thats cool. Nets look great. I always enjoyed Quincy Acy.

Maybe your right, but this is the first negative since Perry/Mills took over. Last move this board went on tilt over was Hardway who hasnt been healthy but everyone was wrong on.

We'll see. Deadline is tomorrow.

With our dearth of talent, someone has to play and score points. KOQ career year? I love KOQ, but you can't hold him up and his 16 minutes, 6.5 points and 5.6 rebound averages as an example of Jeff's coaching greatness.

Jeff has done an ok job. However, of late, the team and KP struggled. KP was tired, and his numbers have been dropping all year after a super November start.

KP clearly has a conditioning issue - yes, he is young- but he started last year the same and finished the same.

Is anyone in the FO monitoring the situation? Are they not seeing the bad habits he has developed and the poor shooting from a 7'3" player- who should have an eFG over 50%

When KP said he was tired on 1/4/2018, he goes out and then is played

This is a good deal.

Hernangómez declared for the 2015 NBA draft, and was selected with the 35th overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. His rights were later traded to the New York Knicks on draft night, in exchange for two future second round draft choices and cash considerations

So basically whatever we gave up for him when we drafted him...we have it back

This what I'm thinking. Willy has decent potential. But, as he is now, his style of play is not in style. I'm sure we would've jumped on an offer where a first was offered. Not too upset. Would rather have traded O'Quinn, but Willy's salary makes him easy too move. I rooted for Willy and penciled him as starter at the beginning of the year, but KOQ and Kanter outplayed him. No hatred. I would've liked to see the kid respond better to adversity, but he still has some maturing to do.

O'bryant is Expiring. Hornets 55 pick this year? 2nd in 2019, 2020? Think we could have waited for a better positioned pick in 2018.

Two picks? Gee, we all want those players who turn out and having now 3 picks is how you create opportunities!!!!
Willy? He did good last year, we sucked. he could not beat out KOQ or Kanter. We might still have Noah.
Johnny O, not exactly great but has an outside shot. Two picks? When are they? what year? Trade Fodder.
KP knows Willy's game. He might love his friend but does he respect his work ethic?
Im not picking willy over our front office. They are what they do and the outcome is on them.
Maybe more to this trade after. Then judge.
Usually fans get most of this wrong anyway. Easy to shyt on everything after allstar 22 year old blows out his knee. Including the 22 year old allstar!

I agree. I thought it was weird people in this thread keep saying this is a terrible trade when Willy himself was a 2nd Rounder. I could understand if he proved himself but he has not done that yet. From the start of this year I wanted no drama. Willy has been harping on playing time the whole year. So I have no problem for them giving him the boot. Noah is next.

They definitely don't like Willy.

ALso Obryant has only this year on his contract. Willy has 2 more years.

Willy was making no money. His contract should have been a huge selling point.

If as reported this is cringe worthy

obviously dont know what else was out there but was hoiping they could deal with Phoenix, Orlando. Atlanta or even Toronto to get a higher 2nd rounder.

"I think"......
You just found the market on Willy. Its not like the whole league is kept a secret over him.
Jeff coached him to 2nd all rookie team, and coached him to the bench. Not like he came in and ruined him.
If you a hornet fan, I can't imagine bringing in another underperforming big is all that exciting!

We were running low on second- rounders for the next few upcoming drafts, so it's good that we could replenish them.
