We beat bad teams at home and lose to good teams on the road. That's what a young team does.

McDermott has become unplayable. His confidence is shot. He refuses to shoot, can't make free throws, and just hunts for backdoor cuts and offenses boards. Jack is breaking down too. Frank will at least play defense and is more capable of a three-point shooter. We shoot no threes and live in the midrange. These are correctable things, but obviously there is a ceiling with this group, we know that.

Briggs. Remember my comment about defensive excellence. We were held to 73 and Smart and Kyrie didn’t play.
Scorers are easier to find than players who will play both waysbbhow else could Roberson start. ?

Sell at the deadline. Shop Lee, KOQ and Lance. Get what you can. Buyout Noah. Think future assets and long term.

If a good trade is there, make it, if it isn't, stand pat. It's that simple. I don't us getting 1st round picks or anything, so most likely stand pat. Maybe get a 2nd round pick for KOQ, or a solid rotation wing. But we need to see Frank playing starters minutes and Dotson cutting into McDermott's and Thomas's minutes very soon.

Briggs keep in mind this is probably a 35-win team this year. With offseason improvements from Porzingis, Ntilikina, Hardaway, and Kanter, and better chemistry, this can become a 40-win team with the same pieces. Add the right draft pick, or the right free agent, and we can push to a 42-43 win team and get into the playoffs. That's the continuity you spoke about earlier. And that's why you can't get too high on a win or too low on a loss. The first step for a young team is protecting home court, which we are doing. The next step is beating bad teams on the road, it's a work in progress. The 3rd step will be playing good teams like the celtics close, so we give ourselves a chance in the 4th quarter. Obviously we are a ways away from that, still getting blown out by good teams on the road. But this is the process you need to expect, it doesn't happen overnight.

McBuckets has become McLance. What have we done to him?

We? Nothing. What the hell is McDermott doing to himself?

You are correct, a mid-30's team - unexpectedly so but never good enough for NY Knicks media. JH is now getting the same treatment Jackson got last year when he was mugged by the media.

I disagree about the idea of inevitable progress with the same core. The Knicks traditionally have likable players who all "want to stay in NY" but never quite move the needle toward greatness.

Ntilikina is probably the only untouchable on my list with Porgy being available expensively. The rest could/should move for upgrades.

And we NEVER get significant FAs - wouldn't waste a breath chasing them around.

When u get blown out by 30 points, plus u only score 73 pts in 4 quarters .. You look at the headcoach and coaching staff !!!

The teams were worlds apart pertaining to perimeter talent and athletic ability Their back up pg played better than any of our pigs all year. A little scary given boston is so young had played without Hayward and Irving -- also own a lottery pick above ours Were looking at 5-8 years of being below boston unless a miracle happens

That would be crazy. You don't trade 22 year old all-star for 19 year old question marks. Doesn't matter what anyone thinks of them as prospects. There's no sure things.

Yeah there is nothing i would want more than adding one of these elite talents. I think this year's talent at the top of the draft is unreal. But the perception of the 2017 group was that it was loaded with future all-stars and potential franchise players, and so far the early returns on the top 10 have been extremely underwhelming. The hardest thing to do in basketball is get a franchise player to build around, it doesn't matter what these guys look like in college, as many teams have learned the hard way.
